A method for controlling an aircraft capable of hovering is described, comprising a first engine; a second engine; at least one rotor; and a transmission interposed between the first and second engine and the rotor; the transmission comprises a first and a second inlet connected respectively to a first outlet member of the first engine and to a second outlet member of the second engine; the method comprises step i) of placing the in a first configuration, in which the first and second engine make available a first and a second power value; or in a second configuration, in which the first engine makes available a third power value greater than the first power value to the first inlet, and the second engine delivers a nil power value to the second inlet; the method also comprises, characterised in that it comprises the steps of ii) detecting a series of parameters associated with the operating conditions of the aircraft; and iii) enabling the transition of the aircraft from the first configuration to the second configuration, when the parameters assume respective first values.

Method for controlling an aircraft capable of hovering and relative aircraft

An anti-torque rotor is described comprising: a mast rotatable about a first axis; a plurality of blades hinged on the mast and rotatable about respective second axes to vary the respective angles of attack; a control element sliding along the first axis with respect to the mast, rotatable with the mast and connected to the blades to cause the rotation about the second axes; a control mechanism, axially sliding and angularly fixed with respect to the mast; and a connection element interposed between the control mechanism and the control element, sliding integrally with the control mechanism along the mast; the control mechanism comprises a first and a second rod; the rotor comprises a coupling, which is configured to enable/prevent rotation of the second rod with respect to the first rod when the torque exerted by the first connection element on the second rod about the first axis is greater/less than a threshold value in the event of failure of the connection element.

Anti-torque rotor for a helicopter

An anti-torque rotor includes a mast rotatable about a first axis; a plurality of blades extending along respective second axes; and a control element sliding along the first axis with respect to the mast, integrally rotatable with said mast, and connected to said blades. A control rod slides axially along first axis and is angularly fixed with respect to said first axis. A connection element is interposed between the control rod and the control element and is configured to enable the relative rotation of said control element with respect to the control rod about the first axis. A transmission unit is available in an active configuration or an inactive configuration. The transmission unit has an annular ridge axially and angularly integral with the control rod and a seat engaged by the ridge and angularly integral with the control element.

Transmission unit of an anti-torque rotor for a helicopter

An anti-torque rotor is described for a helicopter, comprising: a mast rotatable about a first axis; a plurality of blades hinged on the mast, extending along respective second axes transversal to said first axis and rotatable about respective said second axes to alter the respective angles of attack; a control element sliding and rotating with respect to the mast, and operatively connected to said blades to cause the rotation of said blades about respective second axes following a translation of said element along the first axis; a control rod sliding axially along first axis with respect to the mast and angularly fixed with respect to the first axis; and a bearing interposed between the control rod and the control element, sliding along the first axis with respect to the mast and integrally with the control rod; the anti-torque rotor further comprises an interface made of an antifriction material interposed between said control rod and said bearing.

An aircraft rotor blade having a root portion having a through seat and designed for connection to the rotor; and a main portion extending from the root portion. The blade is produced by polymerizing an assembly having a main structure of composite material, and a composite material covering defining the outer surface of the blade. At the root portion, the main structure has a contoured block; and a lamina member extending about at least part of the block, and having a first part adhering to a first peripheral portion of the block, and a second part spaced apart from and facing a second peripheral portion of the block to form the seat; the lamina member having a pre-preg of continuous unidirectional fibers.

Aircraft rotor blade and relative forming method

An electronic flight control system for an aircraft capable of hovering and having at least one rotor. The flight control system is configured to operate in a manual flight control mode, in which the flight control system controls rotor speed in response to direct commands from the pilot; and in at least two automatic flight control modes corresponding to respective flight modes of the aircraft, and in which the flight control system controls rotor speed automatically on the basis of flight conditions. The flight control system is also configured to memorize, for each automatic flight control mode, a respective flight table relating different speed values of the rotor to different values of at least one flight quantity; and to automatically control rotor speed in the automatic flight control modes on the basis of the respective flight tables.

Electronic flight control system for an aircraft capable of hovering

A landing gear for an aircraft, having mounting means fitted to the fuselage of the aircraft; at least one wheel; and at least one supporting arm having a first end portion connected to the mounting means, and a second end portion opposite the first end portion, and to which the wheel is suspended. The first end portion of the supporting arm has a seating portion fitted in rotary manner to a pin connected to the mounting means and extending crosswise to the supporting arm; and an electrically controlled actuator is fitted to the seating portion, and is activated selectively to rotate the supporting arm, about the pin, between a first and second operating position defining a stowed in-flight configuration and a lowered landing configuration of the landing gear respectively.

Aircraft landing gear

A rotor for a helicopter, having a drive shaft rotating about a first axis; a hub angularly integral with the drive shaft about the first axis; and at least two blades projecting from the hub on opposite sides of the first axis and elongated along respective second axes crosswise to the first axis; each blade is movable with respect to the hub and to the other blade about a respective third axis crosswise to the respective second axis; the rotor has at least two dampers for damping oscillation of respective blades about the respective third axes, and which have respective first portions movable integrally with the respective blades about the respective third axes; and the dampers have respective second portions connected elastically to the respective first portions and functionally to each other.

Helicopter rotor

A retractable helicopter landing gear has a suspension structure supporting one wheel, and is movable between a withdrawn position, to reduce drag on the helicopter, and a lowered position for landing and takeoff of the helicopter. The landing gear also has a skid, which is located between the axis of rotation of the wheel and the periphery of the wheel, is diametrically opposite the suspension structure, and is connected to the suspension structure by a connecting device having a torsion bar.

Retractable helicopter landing gear

A rotor for a helicopter, having a drive shaft rotating about a first axis; a hub angularly integral with the drive shaft about the first axis; and at least two blades projecting from the hub, on the opposite side to the first axis, and extending along respective second axes crosswise to the first axis; each blade is movable with respect to the hub and the other blades about a respective fourth axis parallel to the first axis, about the respective second axis, and about a respective third axis crosswise to the first and respective second axis; the rotor also has a number of first dampers for damping vibration associated with at least oscillation of the relative blades about the respective fourth axes; the first dampers are connected to one another and each to a relative blade; and, in a radial direction with respect to the first axis, at least one first damper is located between the first axis and the fourth axis of the relative blade.

An aircraft capable of hovering, and having a fuselage in turn having a nose, a tail portion at the opposite end to the nose, and a cabin interposed between the nose and the tail portion; the cabin has a loading opening at the opposite end to the nose, and a first wall movable between a closed position engaging at least one portion of the loading opening, and an open position allowing free access to the portion of the loading opening; and, working from the tail portion towards the nose, the first wall in the open position extends on the opposite side of a first edge of the loading opening with respect to a second edge, opposite the first edge, of the loading opening.

Aircraft

A helicopter comprising a drive having an air intake conduit, a main rotor connected functionally to the drive and a transmission interposed functionally between the main rotor and the drive and housed in a housing. The helicopter further comprises at least one air intake having a first inlet fluidly connected to the intake conduit, at least one second inlet fluidly connected to the housing and deflecting means interacting, in use, with an airflow to divide the airflow into a first and a second airflow. The air intake also has guide means for guiding the first airflow along a first path extending from the deflecting means to the first inlet, and for guiding the second airflow along a second path separate from the first path and extending from the deflecting means to the second inlet.

Helicopter

A rotor for a helicopter, the rotor having a drive shaft rotating about a first axis; a hub connected functionally to the drive shaft in angularly fixed manner with respect to the first axis and in rotary manner with respect to a second axis crosswise to the first axis; and two blades connected to the hub in angularly fixed manner with respect to the first and second axis and in rotary manner with respect to respective third axes; the rotor also having supporting means for supporting the blades with respect to the hub in rotary manner about the respective third axes; the supporting means having at least one supporting member made at least partly of elastomeric material and interposed between a first surface and a second surface integral with a respective blade and the hub respectively; and the supporting member deforming, in use, to permit rotation of the blade, with respect to the hub, about the respective third axis.
