A system and method for managing access by end-users to features of an application through a policy management service is disclosed. Specifically, the method and system enable an application provider to utilize tools made available by the policy management service for creation of policies, such as terms and conditions and/or consent to data usage. In addition, the policy management service can provide an interface from which application administrators can link subset(s) of an API to specific policies, as well as the manage the presentation of these policies to end-users of the API that offer options to review and accept or reject the policies. The service further allows users to revoke an acceptance to a policy and to review their privacy settings. In addition, the policy management service can regulate the access of user data by external entities based on the policy limits.

System and method for management of policies and user data during application access sessions

A machine-to-machine communication platform provides a flexible system for device control and solution hosting. In particular, the communication platform hosts and manages third party vertical solutions that interact with external devices. A third party gateway provides the third parties with access to the communication platform so that the third parties may define, configure, and monitor custom vertical solutions that are locally hosted in the communication platform. The communication platform provides a communication manager that implements a device independent communication facility for communicating with the external devices. As a result, the communication platform connects to, communicates with, and controls virtually any external device.

Machine to machine architecture

A system and method for recovering messages in a multi-node system that incorporates an active-active architecture with replicated databases is disclosed. The system comprises two or more computing nodes where each computing node includes brokers for processing local messages and a recovery broker for recovering messages from the replicated database when another node in the system fails. Each recovery broker competes with brokers on another node to acquire locks on database information. The recovery broker is successful if the network of brokers on the other node are unavailable and fail to obtain or retain locks on the database information. In this situation, the recovery broker can retrieve messages from the database information and pass the messages to other brokers on the same computing node for processing and completing any ongoing transactions.

Message recovery system for computing nodes with replicated databases

A digital voucher system facilitates the convenient application of vouchers against products and services purchased from a merchant by a consumer. A voucher enabled device carried by the consumer stores digital vouchers in memory. The merchant queries and obtains applicable vouchers for the consumer from the voucher enabled device carried by the consumer, applies the vouchers to a transaction, and communicates the resulting transaction data back to the voucher enabled device.

A vehicle driver monitoring system and method for capturing driver performance parameters is disclosed. The vehicle driver monitoring system and method uses multiple data sources to capture driver performance parameters. Data from one source can be used to validate data from another data source. Additionally, the data from one data source can be used to compensate for missing or corrupt data from the other data source. The vehicle driver monitoring system and method uses a mobile app on a mobile device that can automatically sense when a registered driver is in the vehicle with the mobile device, which helps the vehicle driver monitoring system verify that captured performance parameters are related to the registered driver driving the vehicle. The mobile app can also communicate with the driver in real time.

An electronic certificate system facilitates the secure application of certificates against wireless data transfers with a distributer system by a device user. A certificate enabled device carried by the user stores electronic certificates in memory. When the distributer system detects a certificate enabled device within a proximity radio frequency field, the distributer system queries and obtains applicable certificates for the user from the certificate enabled device carried by the user, applies the certificates to a data transfer, and securely communicates the resulting data transfer metadata back to the certificate enabled device.
