The user experience of application downloading and usage between multiple devices in a network is enhanced. One instance of an app on a first device is able to identify and verify installation and/or execution of a companion app on a second device where the two devices may have entirely different platforms (e.g., smartphone operating system and TV platform). The experience for users who have devices on the same network converge in order to improve the user experience with respect to a particular app. In this manner, an enhanced and efficient means of providing an n-screen experience with the app is enabled; ways that provide synergy between devices on the same network.

A method and system for multi-user, multi-device content access metering and control is provided. In one embodiment, a system implements a method such that in response to user login requests, the system controls login access by providing multiple users login access to plural electronic devices capable of communicating via a communication system. Further, in response to user content access actions, the system controls access to content by selectively providing content to said one or more users via said one or more electronic devices based on content access policies.

The TV receives the video stream and transmits it to a remote endpoint host (the other end of the video call) using a conventional video call application. A TV without a camera is able to function as a local endpoint proxy in a video call with a remote device. In another scenario, the TV discovers and connects to a remote camera device. The remote camera, such as a cell phone, streams video to the TV which functions as a local endpoint proxy in the video call. The TV transmits the video to the device at the other end of the call.

A method for tracking user behavior includes providing multiple frames from a source to an electronic device, automatically capturing one of the multiple frames viewed on a display device connected to the electronic device based on an event, matching a pattern of the captured frame with a frame template by searching a plurality of frame templates, using the matched frame template to extract information from the captured frame, and storing the extracted information for tracking user behavior.

A portable license for licensed content is obtained by a user along with a regular license in a local network, such as a home network or other private network. The portable license may be stored in a license server on a portable device, such as a smart phone or a tablet, which functions as a portable license server. The user may take the portable device to another location where it joins another local network. A device in the second network, which does not have a license to play the licensed content, may use the portable license on the portable device to execute the content, enabling the user to enjoy it in multiple environments. The device (e.g., a TV) in the second network may continue to play the content as long as the portable license or another valid license is present in the network.

The subject application is directed to a system and method for secure document processing. A removable storage, such as a flash drive, magnetic storage, IC card, is installed in document processing device. A selected document processing operation, such as copying, scanning, and the like, is then performed. Data files resultant from the selected document processing operations are directed to the removable storage for being stored temporary, instead of being sent to the storage inherent to the document processing device. Data files temporary stored in the removable storage are then deleted.

Multicast address data and local identification data are first stored in an associated storage. A probe message is then received from an associated processing device via an associated network.
