The plant also comprises a transfer unit () disposed downstream of the heating unit () and configured to move, substantially continuously, the mainly metal solid materials exiting from the heating unit () to a melting furnace (). The container () is provided with an aperture () through which the mainly metal material, heated and in a solid state, is discharged onto the transfer unit (), and opening/closing members () are associated with the aperture (), commanded by an actuator () and configured to open, close and choke the aperture () in order to regulate the delivery of the metal materials that is discharged onto the transfer unit ().

Plant and method for melting metal materials

An electromagnetic device () for stabilizing and minimizing the deformation of a strip () made of ferromagnetic material during its feeding in a system for coating the same strip with molten metal, by applying a distribution of force which is continuous in the direction transversal to the strip regardless of the width thereof. The device comprises first electromagnets and second electromagnets mirroring the tirst electromagnets with respect to said theoretical pass-line () of said strip (). Each electromagnet includes a core comprising one pole and one feeding coil wound about the pole. The electromagnetic device comprises a connection element () made of ferromagnetic material which connects the cores of the first electromagnets ('&#x2033;) and a connection element (&#x2032;) made of ferromagnetic material which connects the cores of the second electromagnets (&#x2032;&#x2033;). The connection elements (&#x2032;) mirror the theoretical pass-line () of the strip ().

An electromagnetic stabilizer includes a first and a second plurality of electromagnets aligned along a transversal direction orthogonal to a feeding direction of the strip. The first and second plurality of electromagnets are mutually arranged in a position mirroring the theoretical feeding plane. Each of the electromagnets includes: a core provided with at least a first and a second pole; a first and a second coil wound about the first and second poles, respectively; two power sources to supply the coils, respectively, so as to generate a first and a second magnetic field, respectively; and at least one concentrator made of ferromagnetic material connected to the core and arranged so as to make the first and the second coil magnetically independent of each other.

Electromagnetic stabilizer

The present invention relates to a process for controlling the distribution of liquid metal flows of in a crystallizer for the continuous casting of thin slabs. In particular, the process applies to a crystallizer comprising perimetral walls which define a containment volume for a liquid metal bath insertable through a discharger placed in the middle of the bath. The process includes arranging a plurality of electromagnetic brakes, each for generating a braking zone within said bath, and activating these electromagnetic brakes either independently or in groups according to characteristic parameters of the fluid-dynamic conditions of the liquid metal within the bath.

Process and apparatus for controlling the flows of liquid metal in a crystallizer for the continuous casting of thin flat slabs

An apparatus and process for the dry removal of the scale from the surface of a metal product comprising at least one heating area that does not reduce the specific surface of the material to be treated and does not cause oxidation, at least one reducing area for performing the reaction between a specific reducing gas (normally hydrogen) and at least the scale, at least one cooling area for cooling the metal product, means for heating the metal product, means for heating the reducing gas, means for controlling the fluid dynamics of the boundary layer produced by the flow of said reducing gas over the surface of the metal product, means for removing the reaction products front the reducing gas after the reaction, means for cooling the metal product, and means for removing the reaction products from the treated surface of the metal product.
