A polyolefin composition useful for making sheet membranes, as well as other articles of manufacture are described. The composition polyolefin combines a reactor made thermoplastic (rTPO) with at least one linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) to improve the mold shrinkage and thermal expansion force compared to a rTPO-only composition, without affecting other properties.

Polyolefin compositions with high dimensional stability for sheet applications

Foamed reactor made thermoplastic polyolefins (rTPOs), and articles made therefrom, are described. The compositions have an rTPO combined with a foaming agent. The foaming agent can be a physical blowing agent and/or a chemical foaming agent, and may include optional nucleating agents. Some compositions utilize a masterbatch having one or more chemical foaming agents to foam the rTPOs. The rTPOs have a large melt flow rate range and flexural modulus range that translate into a broad scope of potential applications and foamed architecture. This allows the combination of rTPOs and foaming agents to be fine-tuned for selected foaming application.

Foamable polyolefin compositions and methods thereof

This disclosure provides for compatibilizer compositions that are useful in compounding polypropylenes and ethylene elastomeric copolymers for injection molding applications. The compatibilizer includes a combination of: Component A of polypropylene homopolymers or polypropylene copolymers containing small amounts of ethylene; and Component B of propylene bipolymers with ethylene and/or other &#x3b1;-olefin comonomers, the bipolymer having a relatively high proportion of propylene moieties, for example, 50-75% propylene. Compared to known or conventional compatibilizer formulations, the bipolymer Component B is relatively propylene rich and generally can be used in the injection molding composition in lower concentrations.

Polyolefin compatibilizer composition for compounding to improve stiffness and impact balance

The present invention is a polyolefin composition, which comprises a thermoplastic olefin polymer and a polyethylene. The thermoplastic olefin polymer (TPO) comprises a polypropylene and an olefin copolymer and is present in an amount of about 10 weight percent to about 50 weight percent; the TPO has a density in the range of about 0.85 g/cmto about 0.92 g/cmand a flexural modulus of less than about 700 MPa as measured by ISO 178. The polyethylene is either a medium density polyethylene or a high density polyethylene and present in an amount of about 50 weight percent to about 90 weight percent. The polyolefin composition is useful for preparing articles of manufacture such as sheets, roofing membranes, geomembranes, soft skins, drawn tapes, drawn fibers, and drawn filaments.
