The disclosure relates to user-centric access to blockchain-based services accessed through a telecom network. User devices may each include a Digital Passport Application ('DPA'), which may be stored at an eSIM of the user device. The DPA may be directed to and anchor to an Edge Digital Gate ('EDG') entitled to provide access to blockchain-based services. The DPA may store a digital persona that digitally represents an entity such as a user or machine so that the DPA may access and interact with blockchain-based services on behalf of the entity. For instance, the digital persona may bind a physical identity of the entity with a digital identity through a private key of the entity. The private key may be used to digitally signed the access token. The digital persona may further link the digital identity with one or more (typically multiple) virtual identities each associated with a blockchain-based service.

Access to telecom blockchain-based services with digital passport

The disclosure relates an edge digital gate ('EDG') configured with entitlement services, universal identity repositories, and connection concentrator functions. The universal identity repositories each include a shared cache that together with other shared caches form a shared data environment ('SDE'). The SDE provides a distributed and shared cache used to chain together EDGs for operation as a blockchain network. The SDE may be check-pointed by stateless Virtual Network Functions (&#x201c;VNFs&#x201d;) executing on the EDGs responsive to service demand and access, thus facilitating distributed consensus for validating each transaction. Through SDE the stateless VNFs disperse transaction-status based on a smart contract, which enforce transactions associated with blockchain-based digital services to which access is provided by the EDGs. The activity relating to the transactions may be recorded on a decentralized ledger of a blockchain network, generating an immutable record of activity of the entity and secure storage of service data.

Carrier grade telecom blockchain

A system and method are provided for instantiating a blockchain in a telecommunications network. The method includes identifying a smart contract having S transactions; encoding the S transactions into a sub-blockchain; selecting K edge gate nodes of the telecommunications network from among N of the edge gate nodes according to an ant colony system algorithm, wherein each of the edge gate nodes operates at an edge of the telecommunications network, and wherein S&#x2264;K; and allocating the sub-blockchain as one or more virtual network functions among the K edge gate nodes.
