A fluid sensor includes a tuning fork mechanical resonator including a base and a tine projecting from the base along a longitudinal direction of the tine, and a pair of electrodes disposed on the tine. The base and the tine are formed from a piezoelectric material including lithium tantalate. The electrodes are exposed to a fluid.

The present invention provides capacitive gas sensor and manufacturing method thereof in which the capacitive gas sensor comprises: a first electrode; a second electrode; a gas-sensitive dielectric material arranged between the first and the second electrodes to form a gas sensitive capacitor, the gas-sensitive dielectric material has a permittivity that depends on an amount of a gas compound absorbed from the environmental medium; and a dielectric-electrode interfacing material arranged at an interface between the gas-sensitive dielectric material and at least one of the first and second electrodes. The dielectric-electrode interfacing material is adapted to absorb thermally-induced dilatation of the at least one of the first and second electrodes for reducing mechanical stress on the gas-sensitive dielectric material.

Capacitive gas sensors and manufacturing method thereof

The invention comprises a method and an analysing system for determining a quality of a hydrocarbon fluid. In an example, the electrical resistivity of the fluid is determined by means of a sensor device. The electrical resistivity is determined over time under predetermined conditions, and a change in the electrical resistivity is monitored over time. A change in fluid visocity may also be determined and monitored over time. The analysing system provides information about an absolute value of a difference of a total base number and a total acid number based on the monitored resistivity change that relates to the quality of the fluid for providing an indication of the remaining useful life of the fluid. In an example, the information about the fluid may correlate to oxidation and/or nitration of the fluid when a change in fluid visocity is below a predetermined threshold.

Method and system for determining a quality of hydrocarbon fluid

A method of compensating for an effect of temperature includes providing a set of magnetic sensors arranged along a sensing path. Each magnetic sensor is adapted to sense a magnetic field created by a magnetic actuator which can move along the sensing path and to provide a sensing signal indicative of a position and/or a displacement of the magnetic actuator relative to the sensing path. The method includes selecting one or more magnetic sensors from the set of magnetic sensors for use as temperature sensors, estimating a distribution of temperature over at least a portion of the sensing path based on the sensing signals output by the one or more magnetic sensors selected as temperature sensors, and compensating for the effect of temperature on the sensing signals output by one or more magnetic sensors of the set of magnetic sensors using the distribution of temperature that was estimated.
