The present invention relates to a filter element for use in a tobacco article, the filter element having at least one filter body and at least one capsule with a liquid medium as core material, characterized in that the at least one capsule has a water vapor-impermeable shell of a polymeric material which was obtained from a UV-polymerizable precursor material, wherein the UV-polymerizable precursor material is at least one compound with two in each case terminal diacrylate and/or dimethacrylate groups which are linked by a rigid, non-polar, non-crosslinking group.

The disclosure relates to a method of wrapping smoking article rods with a wrapper. A bobbin comprising a wound web () and individual spaced wrappers () is provided. The wrappers () each have a longitudinal axis (L) and are arranged side by side on the web (). The bobbin is unwound, and an unwound section of the web () is guided across a support, preferably a support plate, wherein the wrappers () on that section of the web () are exposed. Individual smoking article rods (), which have their longitudinal axes (L) generally arranged in parallel, are fed towards the support under an oblique angle (&#x3b1;) between the longitudinal axes (L, L) of the smoking article rods () and of the wrappers (). Each smoking article rod () is rolled over one of the wrappers (), wherein that wrapper () is taken up by that smoking article rod () and helically wound about that smoking article rod ().

Method of wrapping smoking article rods

A filter cigarillo comprises a bunch, which includes tobacco surrounded by a binder. A first section, different from a general bunch and providing some strengthening effect, is arranged at one end of the bunch. A natural-leaf wrapper surrounds the general bunch and the first section. A second section, which comprises filter material, is arranged downstream of the first section. The second section is connected to the natural-leaf wrapper by an outer tipping.
