A hand-guided treatment device is configured for use in working positions tilted relative to each other by a tilt angle of at least 45&#xb0; about a device longitudinal axis. The device has a device housing, a handle operating unit with a handle extending with a main direction component parallel to the device longitudinal axis and a finger-operable operating element within finger reach of the handle, and a display field arranged on an outside of the device housing with at least one optical display element. The display field is arranged offset relative to the operating element in a housing circumferential direction about the device longitudinal axis and extends in the housing circumferential direction over a housing edge and/or with a curved or kinked course.

Hand-guided treatment device with operating element and display field

A handheld work apparatus has an electric motor and a voltage source for operating the motor. A manual actuation element provided on a handle of the apparatus is operated by a user and is provided for activating the motor. The actuation element is connected to a control unit which controls the energy supply from the source to the motor as a function of an operating signal of the actuation element. If the control unit is in a blocking state, the energy supply to the motor is blocked independently of the operating signal of the actuation element. After receiving a control signal, the control unit switches from the blocking state to a standby state to release an energy supply to the motor. The control signal is derived from a combination of an actuation stroke and an actuation time (&#x394;T) of the actuation element. A method for activating the apparatus is also disclosed.

Handheld work apparatus having an electric motor and method for activating the same

A method controls the rotational speed limiting of an engine in a handheld work apparatus. The crankshaft of the engine drives a worktool via a clutch which engages in dependence on the motor rotational speed. Above an engaging speed of the clutch, a drive connection with the crankshaft is made and below the engaging speed, the drive connection is interrupted. A speed control unit monitors the rotational speed of the engine and includes a rotational speed lock circuit which limits the speed to a limit below the engaging speed. During the start of the engine, the lock circuit is switched on; it is switched off after the engine has been taken into operation when a deactivation signal is present, wherein the deactivation signal is generated when an operation change signal of the work apparatus is detected.
