The present invention relates to a reactive formulation used to make a flame resistant flexible polyurethane foam which is particularly suited for use in under the hood vehicle applications. In particular, the flame resistant flexible polyurethane foam is made from a reactive formulation comprising an A side comprising (i) an organic isocyanate and a B side comprising (ii) an isocyanate-reactive component, (iii) a flame retardant component comprising a combination of red phosphorus, expandable graphite, and optionally sodium citrate wherein the resulting foam achieves after heat aging at 150&#xb0; C. for seven days a V-0 rating at 0.5 inch according to Underwriters' Laboratories Standard 94 Flammability Test.

Olefinic polymer compositions

This invention is a thermoplastic blend based on polycarbonate, thermoplastic polyurethane and an impact modifier. These resins have been found to be suitable for preparing molded or shaped articles having excellent combinations of processability, heat resistance, flexibility, solvent resistance and low temperature toughness. These resins comprise (a) about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of a thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonate; (b) about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane; and (c) about 1 to about 20 percent by weight of an impact modifier, which weight percentages are based on the combined weights of the polycarbonate and thermoplastic polyurethane. A preferred embodiment of the present invention is a thermoplastic automobile part, such as a bumper facia, prepared from such a thermoplastic resin.

Polymer blend compositions having an advantageous combination of low temperature toughness, solvent resistance, scratch resistance and paintability comprise from about 19 to about 64 weight percent of a mass, solution, mass/suspension or mass/solution polymerized rubber modified monovinylidene aromatic/ethylenically unsaturated nitrile polymer; from about 35 to about 80 weight percent of certain selected polyester-based elastomeric thermoplastic polyurethane ingredients; and from about 1 to about 30 weight percent of a relatively high rubber content emulsion polymerized rubber modified graft copolymer ingredient. The resulting polymer blend compositions are especially well suited for use in the preparation of molded articles intended for use in relatively low temperature environments including, for example, in various motor vehicle and/or recreational vehicle applications, as freezer and refrigerator liners, snow removal equipment housings or accessories, and the like.
