The present disclosure provides, in various examples, an implant with a transponder embedded therein, and a method of identifying the implant while inside the human body. In certain examples, the method includes, for example, identifying an implant with an external reader and establishing a wireless communication between the external reader and the transponder. In an example, the implant is identified using information obtained during the wireless communication.

Breast implants with integrated transponders

The present invention provides, in various embodiments, a breast implant which can have a shell with an opening. A patch can cover the opening. A silicone gel can be disposed within the shell and an RFID transponder can be embedded within the silicone gel, so that the implant can be conveniently identified while inside the human body.

High temperature transponders

A system and method of automatically tuning a reading device that remotely monitors RFID tags or transponders. The reading device utilizes the phase signal of an antenna signal wherein the harmonic of the antenna signal is filtered through a signal coupling transformer and utilizes the antenna current reading to determine the optimal capacitance setting for the reader by adjusting capacitors and storing the relative phase signal and level of current in a processor. In one embodiment, the method comprises supplying power to the reading device, monitoring the power supply, storing data related to the monitored power supply, emitting a signal from an antenna, filtering the harmonic of such signal, outputting the phase signal to a processor and adjusting capacitors based on the phase signal and monitored current.

Automatic tuning reader

A radio frequency identification system includes an interrogator for generating and transmitting an interrogation signal to a transponder. One or more transponders of the system receive the interrogation signal and return a data signal which includes identification and/or body characteristic information in one of multiple formats. The interrogator receives the data signal, determines the format of the data signal, and decodes the data signal to obtain the identification and/or body characteristic information. The interrogator operates to decode data signals from transponders not capable of transmitting body characteristic information and transponders which are-capable of transmitting body characteristic information.

Interrogation device and method for scanning

A passive integrated transponder (PIT) tag comprising an integrated circuit and a unitary core is described. The unitary core comprises a coil-forming portion proximate one end thereof and an integrated circuit support portion proximate an opposite end thereof. A passive transponder including an integrated sensor is disclosed. The transponder receives an interrogation signal from a scanner, and is operable to transmit identification information and body characteristic information to a scanner. The scanner is operable to receive the identification and body characteristic information and display and/or store the information. The sensor is integrated into the transponder. If temperature is to be sensed, the transponder determines the temperature of the host using the temperature dependent characteristics of the P-N junction of the integrated circuit.

Method and apparatus for sensing and transmitting a body characteristic of a host

A method and apparatus are provided to identify objects, including livestock. In one embodiment, a device is presented that includes a reflector shield mounted proximate the interrogator that is mounted on or near a livestock chute gate. The reflector shield decreases the amount of the inductive field absorbed by the livestock chute gate, thereby allowing transponders attached to livestock to be read. In a separate embodiment, multiple windings are used to form an interrogator with greater excitation and receiver capability due to the orientation of the wire windings. The multiple-winding interrogators may be used with or without the reflector shield. In yet a separate embodiment, a method is presented to utilize the device of the present invention to identify livestock moving through a livestock chute.

Livestock chute scanner

A flexible interrogator antenna design having a single antenna with an inner and an outer antenna coil positioned in a flat, flexible, rectangular housing or mat which can be positioned in a configuration having two sides and a top across an easily erected temporary frame to form a walkthrough corridor or chute through which livestock having an attached transponder can be driven. The antenna is driven to generate multi-directional electromagnetic fields in each of an 'X', 'Y' and &lsquo;Z&rsquo; axis associated with the walkthrough to detect transponders coming into the fields, regardless of transponder orientation.

A remotely testable Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag interrogation system is described. The system comprises a remotely activated test PIT tag fixed within the field of the system antenna By selectively activating the test PIT tag, and determining successful receipt of the test tag identification signal during such activation, remote confirmation of proper operation of the system is achieved. The system also contains components which permit the remote detection of the antenna field by analyzing signals present in the antenna during operation. Remote detection of the natural frequency to which the antenna is tuned is also achieved by analyzing signals present in the antenna during the collapse of the electromagnetic field in the antenna when the antenna drive signal is removed.
