A technique of data classification and data protection includes recording, in a lineage repository, dependence relationships between data objects and recording, in a classification repository, data classifications applicable to data objects. The data classifications each indicate a respective class of sensitive data to which data protection is to be applied. Based on receiving a classification job requesting classification of a first data object, a processor determines whether the lineage repository records a dependence relationship with a second data object. Based on determining that the lineage repository records a dependence relationship with the second data object, the processor associates in the classification repository at least a particular data classification applicable to the second data object with the first data object. The processor applies data protection applicable to the particular data classification to the first data object. In some cases, the processor may order application of classification models based on cost metrics.

Data protection utilizing efficient data classification

Aspects of the invention include generating a cryptographic key to restrict access to a resource. The cryptographic key being defined by a key token. An exemplary method includes designating a storage field in metadata of the key token, in metadata of a cryptographic key data set record that includes the key token, or in a resource access control database that controls use of the cryptographic key for inclusion of an indicator that the cryptographic key may or may not be deleted or modified. The indicator in the designated storage field is set to indicate whether or not the cryptographic key may be deleted or modified.

Generating unique data encryption keys for a data set, by allocating a data set associated with a security policy, where the security policy specifies a key encryption key (KEK) label, retrieving the KEK label from the security policy, storing the KEK label as metadata of the data set, opening the data set for a first time write, generating a data encryption key (DEK), retrieving a KEK from a key store according to the KEK label, encrypting the DEK using the KEK, storing the encrypted DEK as metadata of the data set, and encrypting the data set using the DEK.

A computer program product for cross-site request forgery (CSRF) prevention is provided and includes a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith. The program instructions are readable and executable by a processing circuit to cause the processing circuit to issue a server request for a certificate, which is associated with a user, responsive to a client request to visit a uniform resource indicator (URI) being received, validate the certificate upon receipt in fulfillment of the server request, compare a referrer listed in a header of the client request with a list of certificate elements in the certificate, authenticate the user in accordance with correlation between the referrer and at least one of the certificate elements and authorize the client request to visit the URI upon the user being authenticated.

Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) prevention

A computer-implemented method for encrypting binary data may include encoding raw binary data in Base64 format to generate Base64 binary data. The Base64 binary data may be encrypted, by a computer processor, using format-preserving encryption to generate Base64 ciphertext. The Base64 ciphertext may be validatable by a Base64 validator.

In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes extracting first key derivation data from a first row of data to be stored in a database, where the database includes two or more rows of data. A first encryption subkey is generated, by a computer processor, by combining the first key derivation data with a static key. One or more sensitive fields in each row of the two or more rows of the database are encrypted using a unique corresponding encryption subkey for the row, and the first encryption subkey is unique to the first row among the two or more rows of the database. The one or more sensitive fields in the first row of data are encrypted with format-preserving encryption using the first encryption subkey. The first row of data, including the encrypted one or more sensitive fields, are stored in the database.
