Power supplies and methods of use thereof are provided, where a power supply includes an input configured to receive input AC power an output configured to provide output AC power to a load, at least one power converter coupled to the input and configured to convert the input AC power into the output AC power, a controller coupled the at least one power converter. The controller is configured to adjust at least one parameter of the output AC power provided by the at least one power converter, detect, in response to adjusting the at least one parameter of the output AC power, at least one of an adjusted input AC power or an adjusted output AC power, and determine that a fault has occurred based on the at least one of the adjusted input AC power or the adjusted output AC power.

Method to detect back-feed and mis-wiring events by a UPS system

Aspects of the disclosure include a power device having a first input configured to be coupled to a main power source, a second input configured to be coupled to a back-up power source, an output configured to be coupled to a load, the load being configured to perform a procedure, and at least one controller configured to determine a required energy for the load to perform the procedure, estimate an amount of available energy predicted to be available to the power device during the procedure, the available energy being derived from at least the back-up power source, determine whether the amount of available energy predicted to be available is equal to or greater than the required energy, and prevent power from being provided at the output responsive to determining that the amount of available energy predicted to be available is less than the required energy.

A power converter system including an input configured to receive input AC power from an input power source, the input power source having a peak voltage limit, at least one output configured to provide output power to at least one load, a charger coupled to the input and configured to convert the input AC power into first DC power, a DC bus configured to receive the first DC power, at least one power converter configured to convert DC power from the DC bus into the output power, and an auxiliary power source coupled to the DC bus and configured to provide second DC power to the DC bus to supplement the first DC power provided by the charger in response to a voltage demand of the at least one load exceeding the peak voltage limit of the input power source.

A cell agnostic battery pack that is capable of receiving sub-modules including lithium-ion cells regardless of form factor type, technology or supplier is described. The battery pack includes a chassis comprising compartments for receiving lithium-ion cells in the form of sub-modules that are connectable in series, parallel or series and parallel, and a battery pack controller. The battery pack further comprises internal interconnects adapted for coupling the sub-modules received in the compartments to the battery pack controller to create a target pack voltage and energy density.

An improved battery, monitoring circuit and method for communicating with the battery is provided. Such batteries and communication methods are particularly useful in UPS systems that use such batteries to provide back-up power to electrical loads. In one aspect, performance, manufacturing, trend and/or other data are stored in non-volatile memory of the battery and are communicated to an external system such as a UPS. In another aspect, a method for communicating via single-wire interface is provided. In one aspect, a same interface is used to communicate with both conventional batteries and improved batteries having increased monitoring capabilities.
