Novel support material formulations, characterized as providing a cured support material with improved dissolution rate, while maintaining sufficient mechanical strength, are disclosed. The formulations comprise a water-miscible non-curable polymer, a first water-miscible, curable material and a second, water-miscible material that is selected capable of interfering with intermolecular interactions between polymeric chains formed upon exposing the first water-miscible material to curing energy. Methods of fabricating a three-dimensional object, and a three-dimensional object fabricated thereby are also disclosed.

Support material formulation and additive manufacturing processes employing same

Formulation systems usable for fabricating a three-dimensional object made of a polyamide-containing material, by three-dimensional 3D inkjet printing, and methods and systems utilizing same, are provided. The formulation systems are formed of at least a first and second model formulations containing a lactam and a catalyst for inducing anionic ring opening polymerization of the lactam in the first formulation, and an activator for promoting anionic ring opening polymerization of the lactam in the second formulation, and are further characterized as: including in the first and/or second formulation a compound capable of increasing a rate of said polymerization upon exposure to said curing energy; including as an activator a lactam-blocked polyisocyanate; and/or as including in the first model formulation at least one material capable of reducing a melting point of said first model formulation. Formulation systems usable at a selected ratio are also provided.

Three-dimensional inkjet printing using polyamide-forming materials

Methods of fabricating three-dimensional rubber-like objects which utilize one or more modeling material formulations which comprise an elastomeric curable material and silica particles are provided. Objects made of the modeling material formulations and featuring improved mechanical properties are also provided.

Additive manufacturing of rubber-like materials

Prelithiation methods and fast charging lithium ion cell are provided, which combine high energy density and high power density. Several structural and chemical modifications are disclosed to enable combination of features that achieve both goals simultaneously in fast charging cells having long cycling lifetime. The cells have anodes with high content of Si, Ge and/or Sn as principal anode material, and cathodes providing a relatively low C/A ratio, with the anodes being prelithiated to have a high lithium content, provided by a prelithiation algorithm. Disclosed algorithms determine lithium content achieved through prelithiation by optimizing the electrolyte to increase cycling lifetime, adjusting energy density with respect to other cell parameters, and possibly reducing the C/A ratio to maintain the required cycling lifetime.

Method for configuring and prelithiating a fast charging cell

Methods of preparing Si-based anode slurries and anode made thereof are provided. Methods comprise coating silicon particles within a size range of 300-700 nm by silver and/or tin particles within a size range of 20-500 nm, mixing the coated silicon particles with conductive additives and binders in a solvent to form anode slurry, and preparing an anode from the anode slurry. Alternatively or complementarily, silicon particles may be milled in an organic solvent, and, in the same organic solvent, coating agent(s), conductive additive(s) and binder(s) may be added to the milled silicon particles&#x2014;to form the Si-based anode slurry. Alternatively or complementarily, milled silicon particles may be mixed, in a first organic solvent, with coating agent(s), conductive additive(s) and binder(s)&#x2014;to form the Si-based anode slurry. Disclosed methods simplify the anode production process and provide equivalent or superior anodes.

Methods for fabricating three-dimensional objects by 3D-inkjet printing technology are provided. The methods utilize curable materials that polymerize via ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) in combination with toughening agents for fabricating the object. Systems suitable for performing these methods and kits containing modeling material formulations usable in the methods are also provided.

Three-dimensional inkjet printing using ring-opening metathesis polymerization

A flexographic printing precursor can be imaged and used for flexographic printing. This precursor has at least two laser-engraveable layers, in which the underlying non-printing laser-engraveable layer is more sensitive than the outermost non-metallic printing laser-engraveable layer. The non-printing layer-engraveable layer comprises (1) a first elastomer, (2) a polymer that is nitrocellulose, a polymer comprising a triazene group, a glycidyl azide polymer, or a poly(vinyl nitrate), and (3) a first near-infrared radiation absorber. The outermost non-metallic printing laser-engraveable layer comprises a second elastomer and a second infrared radiation absorber.

Dual-layer laser-imageable flexographic printing precursors

A color contrast image in imaged lithographic printing precursors can be obtained by contacting the imaged precursor with a coloration solution containing a colorless form of a photochromic compound. Residual amounts of this compound attached to the oleophilic surface of the imaged precursor can be changed to its colored form when exposed to UV light. The coloration solution can be an alkaline or acidic developer or an alkaline or acidic solution used separately after development. The coloration solution can also be a gum solution.

Developers and method of coloring lithographic printing members

A non-ablative negative-working imageable element has first and second polymeric layers under a crosslinked silicone rubber layer. These elements can be used in a simple method to provide lithographic printing plates useful for waterless printing (no fountain solution). Processing after imaging is relatively simple using either water or an aqueous solution containing very little organic solvent to remove the imaged regions. The crosslinked silicone rubber layer is ink-repelling and only the first layer that is closest to the substrate contains an infrared radiation absorbing compound to provide thermal sensitivity.
