An improved liquid dispensing nozzle (10) for dispensing a liquid such as fuel, from a dispensing pump. The improved dispensing nozzle comprises a body (12) defining an internal passageway (13) provided with an inlet port (14) for releasably connecting the nozzle (10) in fluid communication with a dispensing pump and an outlet port (16) for carrying a spout assembly (17) for selectively directing the flow of liquid from the nozzle (10). A main valve (18) is mounted within the body (12) between the inlet port (14) and the outlet port (16) and is provided with an operating lever (32) for selectively opening the main valve (18) to allow liquid to be discharged from the nozzle (10). The nozzle (10) further comprises ball-latch mechanism (25) for selectively disabling the operating lever (32) in order to close, or prohibit the opening of, the main valve (18) and further comprises first automatic shut-off mechanism (34) for selectively releasing the ball-latch mechanism ( 25) so as to disable the operating lever (32) when the supply pressure from the dispensing pump falls below a preselected value.

Liquid dispensing nozzle with a pump pressure responsive automatic

A device for attachment to a tank in the event of an emergency requiring drainage of the tank. The device is adapted to be coupled to a strategically located port on the tank and upon coupling therewith automatically ejects a plug to establish an outflow circuit from the tank. The device includes a flow limiting feature which is calibrated to avoid the buildup of an excessive vacuum in the tank, provisions to introduce an inert replacement gas into the tank, and structure to limit the pressure of the replacement gas.

Emergency drain device

Discloses is a safety hatch cover apparatus illustrated as used on a tank of a tank-carrying vehicle such as a gasoline truck. The apparatus comprises a base member attached to the tank and having an opening adapted to be closed by a hatch cover hinged to the base member. The hatch cover carries a latch bar rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the base member and adapted to engage keeper members fixed to the base member adjacent the hatch opening. The latch bar carries a cam which turns with the longitudinal axis of the latch bar and engages biasing means carried by the cover. The biasing means, cam, latch bar and keeper members cooperate to close the cover yet permit the cover to lift in case of excess gas pressure in the tank. The apparatus also includes safety means adapted to engage the latch bar to restrain it from moving from its position in which it engages the keeper members, whether or not the cam is turned to cause the latch bar to be in locked position.
