A power converter includes an outer housing formed of dielectric material and including a low voltage compartment and a high voltage compartment is disclosed. The power converter also includes a low voltage DC-to-AC converter disposed in the low voltage compartment, a first coil in the low voltage compartment, a first conductive shield element lining an outer wall of the low voltage compartment, the first conductive shield element being electrically coupled to an electrical input of the DC-to-AC converter and a second conductive shield element lining an outer wall of the high voltage compartment.

High voltage high frequency power converter

A reconfigurable multi-cell power converter and method wherein a set of cells are connected between an input bus and a load in an input series output parallel configuration or in an input parallel output series configuration. Each cell includes a primary side reconfigurable between series and parallel operation and a secondary side also reconfigurable between series and parallel operation. Switching circuitry is configured to reconfigure the primary side of each cell between series and parallel operation and vice versa and also to reconfigure the secondary side of each cell between series and parallel operation and vice versa. A controller is configured to actuate the switching circuitry depending a voltage on the input bus and/or cell condition to reconfigure all the cell primary sides and/or secondary sides while maintaining a desired input series output parallel or input parallel output series connection for the set of cells.

Reconfigurable multi-cell power converter

A method of providing power to a load is provided. A first series resonant converter is provided. A second SRC is operably coupled to the first SRC in a cascade connected arrangement. First and second zero voltage switching (ZVS)-assistance networks are operably coupled between the first SRC and the second SRC, such that the first and second ZVS-assistance networks are providing first and second ZVS-assistant currents flowing from each ZVS-assistance network to the cascade connected arrangement of SRCs. Power from a power source is received at the cascade connected arrangement of first and second SRCs, power from a power source. The cascade connected arrangement of first and second SRCs supplies an output voltage to the load in response to receiving power from the power source.

Methods and apparatus for three-phase inverter with reduced energy storage

A fluid cooling device, and a method for manufacturing the fluid cooling device, are disclosed. The fluid cooling device includes a plurality of cold plate members, each having a plurality of imperforate plate portions and perforate portions arranged in a line; and, at least one connector for connecting the plate portions together at one end thereof. The cold plate members are arranged in a stack, wherein respective plate portions of each cold plate member are in registration with perforate portions formed in its adjacent cold plate members in the stack. The fluid cooling device can provide very high heat transfer by close clearance laminar developing flow, thereby increasing the thermal performance of the fluid cooling device while maintaining low pressure drop. The method for manufacturing the fluid cooling device includes forming a plurality of cold plate members from a planar metal tape, or thin layer stock; positioning the cold plate members relative to each other so that the respective imperforate plate portions of each cold plate member are in registration with the perforate portions formed in adjacent cold plate members; and joining each cold plate member with the adjacent cold plate members.

High performance cold plate for electronic cooling

A grid-linked power supply is described. An inverter, at least one distributed energy source to meet normal, non-peak power demand, a connection to a public utility grid to meet peak power demand requirements, and a converter for regulating delivery of power from the distributed energy source or the public utility grid are connected by bus lines. A topology for the grid-linked power supply has an inverter and a DC/DC converter that is connected to the distributed energy source. The inverter and converter are connected by bus lines, and a bias voltage is provided to select drawing power from the distributed energy source or the public utility grid.

A high-density, staggered pin fin array, and a method for manufacturing the pin fin array, are disclosed. The pin fin array includes a plurality of fin members, each having a plurality of elongated, pin-shaped fins arranged in a row; and, at least one connector for connecting the fins together, each at one end thereof. The plurality of fin members is arranged in a stack, wherein respective fins of each fin member are in registration with slots formed in its adjacent fin members in the stack. The method for manufacturing the pin fin array includes forming a plurality of fin members from a raw planar, tape, or thin layer stock, positioning the fin members relative to each other so that the respective fins of each fin member are in registration with the slots formed in adjacent fin members, and joining each fin member with the adjacent fin members. The high-density, staggered pin fin array produces very high heat transfer coefficients by geometrically inducing turbulent mixing, thereby increasing the thermal performance of the pin fin array.
