The present invention relates to a tomato plant (L.) which may comprise a genetic determinant that confers resistance to Pepino Mosaic Virus (PepMV), wherein the resistance is characterised by the presence of at least QTL1 and/or QTL2. The invention also relates to sources for obtaining said genetic determinant, representative seed of which were deposited with the NCIMB under accession numbers NCIMB 41927, NCIMB 41928, NCIMB 42068, and NCIMB 42069. The invention further relates to seeds and progeny of the plant and to its fruits and processed fruits. In addition the invention relates to molecular markers linked to PepMV resistance conferring QTLs and the use thereof.

Pepino mosaic virus resistant tomato plant

The invention relates to a method for producing a chromosome substitution library, comprising: a) producing a population of DH lines from an at least partially heterozygous starting organism; b) identifying a first DH line in the population that has at least one non-recombined chromosome pair; c) identifying a matching second DH line in the population that has at least one non-recombined chromosome pair that is the same as the non-recombined chromosome pair of the first DH line, and at least one non-recombined chromosome pair that is different from the non-recombined chromosome pair of the first DH line; d) selecting the first DH line and the second DH line as a pair of parents, the progeny of which has at least three non-recombined chromosomes, at least two of which form a pair; e) repeating steps b), c) and d) one or more times on the DH population of the heterozygous starting organism, or repeating steps a)-d) on a DH population produced from a progeny plant of a pair of parents selected in step d), until preferably all chromosomes from the selected DH lines are non-recombined and preferably all possible combinations of the parental chromosomes are selected, to assemble a library of chromosome substitution lines. The invention further relates to the libraries thus obtained.

The present invention relates to a pepper plant () that produces fruits with an increased Brix level, wherein the pepper plant may comprise a QTL, which when present leads to pepper fruits with increased Brix level, and wherein said QTL is similar to, or in particular the same as the QTL present in the genome of plants grown from seed which was deposited at the NCIMB under NCIMB number 42139, and wherein said QTL is linked to at least one marker selected from the group of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:5, and SEQ ID NO:7 and wherein the QTL is preferably homozygously present.
