A bead retaining member includes a body having a concave first concave edge and one or more retaining elements which are distributed over the body along said first concave edge for retaining a first bead of a first size along a first retaining curve having a first retaining radius and for retaining a second bead of a second size along a second retaining curve having a second retaining radius larger than the first retaining radius. The first retaining curve intersects with the second retaining curve at a first intersection point and a second intersection point. The first concave edge is non-circular and is located radially outside of the second retaining curve in a center region of the first concave edge between the first intersection point and the second intersection point and radially outside of the first retaining curve in a first lateral region and a second lateral region.

Bead retaining member, bead retaining device and bead handling assembly

Provided is a tire building drum and a method for shaping tire components on the tire building drum, wherein the tire building drum has an annular sleeve that extends over turn-up arms in the longitudinal direction of the turn-up arms. The sleeve is elastic in the circumferential direction and fits elastically around the turn-up arms. The sleeve is provided with inelastic reinforcement elements extending in at least a part of the sleeve in a reinforcement direction transverse to the circumferential direction of the tire building drum, and has a fixed end that is retained in the axial direction and a movable end that is movable over the turn-up arms in their respective longitudinal directions.

Tire building drum and a method for using it

Disclosed is a tire building system including a first drum, a second drum and first stations, a first support, a first carrier that carries the first drum with respect to the first support, a second support and a second carrier that carries the second drum with respect to the second support, wherein the first carrier is movable along the first support in a first positioning plane, wherein the second carrier is movable along the second support in the first positioning plane, wherein the first support is arranged for supporting the first carrier from below the first positioning plane and wherein the second support is arranged for suspending the second carrier from above the first positioning plane. The disclosure further relates to a method for positioning the first drum and the second drum with respect to the first stations with the use of the aforementioned system.

Tire building system and method

A tire building drum has a drum shaft and a circumferential surface for receiving a tire component, wherein the circumferential surface is defined by segments which are radially movable between a contracted position in which the circumferential surface has a first radius and an expanded position in which the circumferential surface has a second, greater radius. The tire building drum includes cover plates, wherein each segment is provided with a first section having a first support surface for supporting the tire component and a second section with a second support surface for supporting the cover plate. Each second section is movable relative to its respective first section from a recessed position in which the second support surface is recessed with respect to first radius and an extended position in which the second support surface is raised towards the second radius.

Tire building drum

Belt drum, particularly for shaping a belt layer and/or a tread layer or another tire component provided with metal parts and the like into a circumferential whole, wherein the drum is rotatable about a center line, comprising a number of support members having a rigid support surface for the tire component and situated at the circumference of the drum, wherein considered in a cross-sectional plane containing the center line, the support members comprise middle support sections and side support sections movably connected thereto, wherein the middle sections of the support members are moveable by first movement means between a first position, in which the respective support member forms a support surface that is parallel to the center line, and at least one second position, in which a substantially convex support surface is formed by the respective support member, wherein the first movement means are connected to the middle support sections in order to at least keep them parallel to the center line in at least the one second position.
