Disclose are aqueous conditioning shampoo compositions comprising from about 5% to about 50% by weight of an anionic detersive surfactant component selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactants having an attached group that is anionic at the pH of the composition, and combinations thereof, from about 0.025% to about 3% by weight of an organic, cationic, hair conditioning polymer, from about 0.05% to about 3% by weight of an organic, water-insoluble, polyalphaolefin conditioning polymer derived from 1-alkene monomers having from about 4 to about 16 carbon atoms, wherein the polyalphaolefin polymer has a viscosity of from about 1 to about 300 centipoise as measured at 40&deg; C.; and from about 20% to about 94% by weight of water. The select polyalphaolefin polymers provide the shampoo composition with improved conditioning performance.

Disclosed are hair styling shampoo compositions which comprise from about 5% to about 50% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactants having an attached group that is anionic at the pH of the composition, and combinations thereof; from about 0.025% to about 3% by weight of an organic cationic polymer having a cationic charge density of from about 0.2 meq/gm to about 7 meq/gm and a molecular weight of from about 5,000 to about 10 million; from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a water-insoluble hair styling polymer; from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a water-insoluble volatile solvent; and from about 0.05% to about 5% by weight of select cationic materials for use as spreading agents for the styling polymer; and from about 22% to about 94.3% by weight water. The composition provides improved spreading efficiency of the styling polymer onto hair, thus providing improved styling performance from the shampoo composition.

Disclosed are hair conditioning shampoo compositions, containing a detersive surfactant component, a silicone hair conditioning agent, and water and preferably comprising a suspending agent for the silicone conditioning agent. Disclosed are aqueous conditioning shampoo compositions comprising an anionic detersive surfactant component; an organic, cationic, hair conditioning polymer, and from about 0.01% to about 1.0% by weight of a water insoluble, synthetic ester having a viscosity of from about 1 to about 300 centipoise, and which conforms to either of the following formuls ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyalkenyl group, having from 7 to 9 carbon atoms; n is a positive integer having a value of from 2 to 4; R.sup.2 is an alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyalkenyl group, having from 8 to 10 carbon atoms; and Y is an alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxy or carboxy substituted alkyl or alkenyl, having from about 2 to about 20 carbon atoms; and an organic, water insoluble, conditioning oil having a viscosity of from about 1 to about 300 centipoise, selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon oils, fatty esters other than the above synthetic esters, and combinations thereof. The organic conditioning oil is preferably a polyolefin. The shampoo compositions provide improved hair conditioning performance, and eliminates or minimizes the slimy, excessively conditioned, wet hair feel often associated with the use of a cationic hair conditioning polymers.

The present invention is directed to conditioning shampoo compositions which comprise (A) from about 5% to about 50% by weight of an anionic surfactant component selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactants having an attached group that is anionic at the pH of the composition, and combinations thereof; (B) from about 0.05% to about 3% by weight of an organic, cationic, hair conditioning polymer; (C) from about 0.01% to about 1.0% by weight of a water insoluble, synthetic ester having a viscosity of from about 1 to about 300 centipoise, and which conforms to either of the following formulas ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyalkenyl group, having from 7 to 9 carbon atoms; n is a positive integer having a value of from 2 to 4; R.sup.2 is an alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyalkenyl group, having from 8 to 10 carbon atoms; and Y is an alkyl, alkenyl, or a hydroxy or carboxy substituted alkyl or alkenyl, having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms; and (D) from about 20% to about 94% by weight of water, wherein the synthetic ester content represents from about 2.5% to about 100% by weight of the total liquid fatty ester content of the composition. It has been found that the use of select synthetic esters (diesters, triesters or tetraesters) in the shampoo compositions provide improved wet hair conditioning performance by eliminating or minimizing the slimy, excessively conditioned, wet hair feel often associated with the use of a cationic hair conditioning polymers.

A mild liquid skin cleanser composition with improved lathering and rinsing characteristics, comprising: an alkyl ethoxylated sulfate anionic surfactant having an average degree of ethoxylation of at least about 2.0; an amphoteric surfactant selected from the group consisting of betaine surfactants, imidazoline surfactants, aminoalkanoate surfactants, and iminodialkanoate surfactants, and mixtures thereof; an N-acylamino acid surfactant, or salt thereof; a cationic cellulose ether derivative; from 0.2 parts to 2.0 parts by weight of a C8 to C20 fatty alcohol; and from 0.1 parts to 5 parts by weight of a water insoluble salt of C14-C22 fatty acid.

Disclosed are aqueous conditioning shampoo compositions which comprise an anionic detersive surfactant component; dispersed, liquid, droplets of a water insoluble, hair conditioning agent having a number average particle diameter of from about 0.01 microns to about 2000 microns; from about 0.025% to about 5% by weight of an organic, cationic, non crosslinked, deposition or conditioning polymer having a cationic charge density of from about 4 meq/gm to about 7 meq/gm and an average molecular weight of from about 1,000 to about 1 million. The cationic polymer, in combination with anionic detersive surfactant component and other essential components, provides improved deposition of the conditioning agent on hair or skin, even when the dispersed conditioning agent particles have a number average particle size of up to about 2,000 microns. The composition may be applied to skin or hair, and provides improved conditioning performance even without the use of the dispersed hair conditioning agent particles.
