A gas container is made from metal foam and the spaces defined by the open-celled structure are filled with a solid adsorbent material such as a zeolite or an activated carbon. The container may be made in the form of a panel.

Metal foam container

A spirit chilling apparatus comprising a drink chilling tube (,) concentric within an insulated container (,) filled with a constant boiling cryogen (,), such as acetone and solid carbon dioxide or similar azeotropic mixture. The innertube (,) is held in relatively poor thermal contact with the vessel (,) containing the liquid so that over a period of time it will adopt the temperature of the liquid (,) but when a measure of spirit is poured through it the specific heat of the tube (,) will be sufficient to result in a net temperature of &minus;5&deg; C. for both the spirit and the tube (,), the heat flow from the surrounding vessel (,) being insufficient to materially affect this. If the tube (,) is left in place it will again cool to the previous temperature so that a further measure of spirit can be cooled.

Spirit Chiller

Apparatus for cooling and/or gassifying a liquid

A capsule for storing a fluid, for example helium, under pressure comprises a hollow body from which extends a hollow neck. A stopper engages with the neck in a fluid tight manner. The stopper includes a main hollow portion and a stem extending outwardly from the main hollow portion. The root of the stem where it joins the main hollow portion forms a frangible section which, when broken, will allow fluid in the capsule to escape under pressure.

Gas capsule and gas delivery system

A gas delivery system includes a capsule for storing a propellant fluid, e.g. helium under pressure, e.g. between about 60 and 80 bar. The capsule is provided with a stopper having a stem formed with a frangible section. In use, mechanical means is employed to rupture the stem about the frangible section to release the fluid under high pressure.

A chiller for chilling a quantity of fluid of the type comprising an adsorbent for receiving and adsorbing under pressure a quantity of gas, the desorption of gas from the adsorption causing a reduction in temperature of the adsorbent and adsorbate which acts to chill the fluid, wherein the chiller comprises one or more thin-walled vessels for placement in direct thermal contact with the fluid to be chilled, each vessel comprising two thin sheets of substantially similar size and shape, joined together around the peripheral edges thereof so as to form a cavity therebetween for containing the adsorbent. Preferably, heat transfer means are provided to ensure efficient transfer of heat between the surface of the body of adsorbent and the adsorbent therewithin.

Fluid chilling apparatus

A capsule for storing a propellant fluid, for example, helium under pressure comprises a hollow body which includes a frangible area. An anchor member attaches an arm to the frangible area such that when a force is applied to the arm, said force together with the helium under pressure will cause the frangible area to rupture outwardly of the hollow body thereby to release the helium.
