A recessed light fixture includes an LED module, which includes a single LED package that is configured to generate all light emitted by the recessed light fixture. For example, the LED package can include multiple LEDs mounted to a common substrate. The LED package can be coupled to a heat sink for dissipating heat from the LEDs. The heat sink can include a core member from which fins extend. Each fin can include one or more straight and/or curved portions. A reflector housing may be coupled to the heat sink and configured to receive a reflector. The reflector can have any geometry, such as a bell-shaped geometry including two radii of curvature that join together at an inflection point. An optic coupler can be coupled to the reflector housing and configured to cover electrical connections at the substrate and to guide light emitted by the LED package.

Light emitting diode recessed light fixture

The luminaire includes a light emitting diode (LED) module that includes a heat sink with an outer wall defining a top cavity and a bottom cavity and a mounting flange generally positioned along the bottom of the outer wall. A LED light source is positioned within the bottom cavity and in thermal communication with the heat sink. The bottom surface of the mounting flange includes one or more alignment features or keys extending out from the bottom surface. A trim having a corresponding alignment aperture is matingly engaged by positioning all or a portion of the alignment feature into the alignment aperture to ensure proper orientation of the trim with the LED module and to provide sufficient surface area for good thermal transfer between the heat sink and the trim.

Thermal management for light emitting diode fixture

A dual-reflector assembly includes an upper reflector and a lower reflector. The upper reflector includes a proximal end and a distal end. The lower reflector includes a proximal end and a distal end. A light source is positioned between the proximal ends of the upper reflector and the lower reflector. The upper reflector surrounds at least a portion of the lower reflector. The shape and orientation of the dual-reflector assembly can be formed by placing a cup reflector having an upper edge profile and a lower edge profile a predetermined distance away from a rotational axis and at a desired orientation, rotating the cup reflector around the rotational axis, obtaining the shape and orientation of the upper reflector and the lower reflector from the rotating upper edge profile and the rotating lower edge profile, respectively.

A modular heat sink includes one or more heat sink sections interconnected sequentially to each other to form a polar array. Each heat sink section includes a first connecting part and a second connecting part, where the first connecting part is configured to couple with the second connecting part of another heat sink section. Once assembled, the modular heat sink includes a channel formed substantially through the center of the modular heat sink. Each heat sink section is manufactured using an extrusion process. The assembled modular heat sink has one or more hollow portions within the overall shape that cannot be fabricated in a single extrusion process. One or more LEDs are coupled to the outer surface of the modular heat sink. The modular heat sink, with LEDs coupled thereto, is coupled to a wireway tube and mounted to a post-top light fixture to form an LED luminaire.

Systems, methods, and devices of the invention are directed to a light fixture that includes a housing with a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, two side walls, and an aperture, a reflector connected to the housing, and one or more bracket-based LED light sources segments connected to at least one of the front wall, the back wall, or the two side walls of the housing. In some embodiments of the invention, the housing is a wall mount housing. In some embodiments of the invention the bracket-based LED light source includes a bracket shaped to position the LED light source to emit a particular optical distribution from the aperture of the housing, and/or the bracket is shaped to thermally disburse heat radiating from the LED light source. In other embodiments of the invention, a portion of a bracket of at least one bracket-based LED light source is flexible.
