An electronic component assembly having thermal pads with thermal vias coupling an image sensor and a camera board fab is provided for heat dissipation. The electronic component assembly can include: a circuit board having at least one thermal pad disposed on a top surface of the circuit board; and an image sensor disposed on the top surface of the circuit board, having at least one conductive pad disposed at at least one corner of the image sensor. The at least one thermal pad is coupled to the at least one conductive pad of the image sensor and the at least one thermal pad is formed with a plurality of first thermal vias penetrating the thermal pad and the circuit board for transfer of heat of the image sensor.

Methods and reference compositions for quantifying protein using tagged standards. In an exemplary method, a reference composition and a protein may be electrophoresed in respective lanes of a gel. The reference composition may include quantitation standards of different size and each including a tag present at a different concentration. The quantitation standards and the protein may be transferred from the gel to a solid support to create a blot. Luminescence may be detected from the blot to obtain respective luminescence values separately representing an abundance of the tag of each quantitation standard and an abundance of the protein. A quantity of the protein may be determined using the respective luminescence values.

Systems and methods for contact imaging of stands with illumination are disclosed herein. A contact imaging system can include a contact imager. The contact imager can include a housing having a base and a lid. The lid can have a closed position against the base and an open position. The contact imager can include a contact area image sensor. The lid can shield the contact area image sensor from ambient light when the lid is in the closed position. The contact imager can include an illuminator that can illuminate at least a portion of a blot on the contact area image sensor when the lid is in the closed position.

Systems for protein quantitation using a Fabry-Perot interferometer. In one arrangement, a quantitation device includes an infrared source, a sample holder, and a Fabry-Perot interferometer positioned to receive infrared radiation from the source passing through a sample on the sample holder. A band pass optical filter sets the working range of the interferometer, and radiation exiting the interferometer falls on a detector that produces a signal indicating the intensity of the received radiation. A controller causes the interferometer to be tuned to a number of different resonance wavelengths and receives the intensity signals, for determination of an absorbance spectrum.

Protein quantitation device

Analyte arrays such as solutes in a slab-shaped gel following electrophoresis, and particularly arrays that are in excess of 3 cm square and up to 25 cm square and higher, are imaged at distances of 5 cm or less by either forming sub-images of the entire array and stitching together the sub-images by computer-based stitching technology, or by using an array of thin-film photoresponsive elements that is coextensive with the analyte array to form a single image of the array.

Image capture for large analyte arrays

Devices and methods are disclosed for the substantially uniform epi-illumination of samples such as western blots using high power lasers. The uniformity of illumination is provided by particular configurations of optical diffusers, spatial or temporal laser modalities, or numbers of lasers. The increased excitation light produced by the high power lasers can enhance fluorescence emission signal strength and reduce required imaging exposure times.

In one application, an imaging device includes an image sensor having an array of pixels, and a mask coupled with the image sensor. The mask is configured to darken a plurality of isolated pixels or groups of pixels interspersed within the array of pixels. The imaging device also includes a processor coupled with the image sensor and configured to receive image data from the image sensor, and determine a dark current fixed pattern noise based on the image data received from the plurality of darkened pixels or groups of pixels.

Techniques and systems for implementing fast, fixed-focal-length lens imaging systems for molecular biology or genetics applications are provided. In particular, techniques and structures are provided for allowing for precise alignment of the optical and imaging components of such imaging systems during assembly with a minimal amount of adjustment.

Camera assembly and system for mounting thereof

An image sensor assembly having a sensor window positioned in front of an image sensor, having structure and/or characteristics to prevent the formation of condensation on the sensor window. Structure to prevent the formation of condensation includes thin films which can have anti-condensation, anti-reflective, electrically conductive, and/or thermally conductive properties. The sensor window can further have a textured surface to displace water so as to avoid condensation formation on the window surface. The sensor window, and in some embodiments a frame, can be maintained at an elevated temperature proximate to the image sensor during operation to prevent the formation of condensation.

Methods and digital imaging devices disclosed herein are adapted to capture images of a specimen in a chemical reaction using a series of short exposures of light emissions from the specimen over a period of time. The series of short exposures is captured using an array of pixels of an image sensor in the digital imaging device that are configured for performing continuous non-destructive read operations to read out a set of non-destructive read images of the specimen from the pixel array. In one embodiment, images are captured by delaying the read out until at or near the end of the chemical reaction to reduce read noise in the images. The signals read out from the image sensor can be continuously monitored and the capturing of images can be discontinued either automatically or based on a command from a user. The captured images can then be displayed in a graphical display.
