A system and method for sharing antennas of a wireless communication device is provided. The wireless communication device leverages cellular antennas to improve data throughput by creating a multiple-in, multiple out (MIMO) operation for a wireless local area network (WLAN) connection. Antenna resources are dynamically allocated between the cellular antennas and the wireless antenna to provide improved throughput.

Devices are described herein that operate according to non-reciprocal behaviors. The devices may be manufactured and integrated into substrates and discrete components according to described techniques. The devices may be configured in ways to achieve increased device performance while decreasing the overall device size. The devices may be actively tuned to facilitate impedance matching with other circuit components such as power amplifiers. Tuning includes adjustment of magnetic fields and impedance values associated with the devices using techniques and components described herein and may be based upon changes in circuit or device parameters such as temperature, voltage, and current. The devices described herein may be configured as non-reciprocal devices that include ferrites with metallization patterns that may be in the form of microstrip circuitry or in stripline formats depending upon configuration.

MCM integration and power amplifier matching of non-reciprocal devices

Systems and methods are described for enhancing the audio quality of an FM receiver. In embodiments described herein, a stop band noise signal is extracted from an L+R or L&#x2212;R signal produced by an FM stereo decoder. A channel quality measure is calculated based on the stop band noise signal and is used to control whether a pop suppression technique is applied to the L+R signal. The channel quality measure and the stop band noise signal are also leveraged to perform single-channel noise suppression in the frequency domain on the L&#x2212;R signal and on the L+R signal. The channel quality measure is also used to control the application of a fast fading compensation process that replaces noisy segments of the L&#x2212;R and L+R signal with replacement waveforms generated via waveform extrapolation.

Systems and methods for enhancing audio quality of FM receivers

Systems and methods are described for enhancing the audio quality of an FM receiver. In embodiments described herein, quadrature L&#x2212;R demodulation is applied to a composite baseband signal output by an FM demodulator to obtain an L&#x2212;R noise signal. A channel quality measure is calculated based on the L&#x2212;R noise signal and is used to control whether a pop suppression technique is applied to an L+R signal obtained from the composite baseband signal to detect and remove noise pulses therefrom. The channel quality measure and the L&#x2212;R noise signal are also leveraged to perform single-channel noise suppression in the frequency domain on an L&#x2212;R signal obtained from the composite baseband signal and on the L+R signal. The channel quality measure is also used to control the application of a fast fading compensation process that replaces noisy segments of the L&#x2212;R and L+R signal with replacement waveforms generated via waveform extrapolation.

Disclosed are various embodiments involving correction of signals generated by a crystal oscillator. An age of an integrated circuit or a time of use of the integrated circuit may be determined. A signal generated from a crystal of the integrated circuit may be modified based at least in part on the determined age of the integrated circuit or the determined time of use of the integrated circuit.

Method and system for signal generation via a temperature sensing crystal integrated circuit

A multi-standard single chip integrated within a multi-standard mobile device concurrently receives multi-standard radio frequency signals by corresponding two or more integrated radios. The multi-standard single chip generates full GNSS measurement comprising pseudo-range information using the received radio frequency signals. The multi-standard single chip comprises a GNSS radio and multiple non-GNSS radios such as Bluetooth. The full GNSS measurement is generated using GNSS radio frequency signals received by the integrated GNSS radio and communicated over, for example, Bluetooth radio. GNSS satellite reference information embedded in radio frequency signals received by the integrated non-GNSS radios is extracted to assist the full GNSS measurement. A full GNSS navigation solution for the multi-standard mobile device is generated internally to and/or externally to the multi-standard single chip depending on the location of a navigation engine. The generation of the full GNSS measurement is independent of a host processor within the multi-standard mobile device.

Aspects of a method and system for integrated FM recording are provided. A multimedia device with various integrated systems such as an integrated FM radio may provide content-based multimedia content recording, recorded content retrieval, and playback of desired or potentially relevant contents. The multimedia device may receive multimedia content along with information identifying the received multimedia content via the various integrated systems. A segment of the received multimedia content may be recorded selectively by comparing the corresponding content information with a favorite content list. The favorite content list may be generated and updated based on the multimedia content and/or program selection data. The multimedia device may have access to additional related stored multimedia contents to retrieve and render the stored segment of the received multimedia content. Device power consumption may be reduced by utilizing the local stored contents without access to the integrated systems' archives of broadcast program contents.

Method and system for integrated FM recording

Aspects of the invention may comprise an integrated circuit comprising a memory, a temperature sensor, a crystal, and a communication module. Data stored in the memory may indicate a frequency of the crystal as a function of temperature and/or time. The memory may be writable via the communication module. Data stored in the memory of the integrated circuit may be updated based on an age and/or time of use of the integrated circuit. The time of use may be one or both of: how long the crystal has been oscillating since its most-recent start up, and how long the crystal has been in use over its lifetime. An electronic device may calculate a frequency of an oscillating signal output by the crystal based on a temperature indication from the temperature sensor and data read from the memory of the integrated circuit.

Aspects of a method and system for a temperature sensing crystal Integrated circuit with digital temperature output are provided. In this regard, an indication of temperature may be generated in an integrated circuit (IC) comprising a memory, a crystal or crystal oscillator, and at least a portion of an analog-to-digital converter. The temperature indication may be digitized via the analog-to-digital converter. Operation of one or more circuits may be controlled based on the digital temperature indication. The digital temperature indication may be communicated over a communication bus. An analog portion of the analog-to-digital converter may be integrated in the IC and may comprise, for example, a delta-sigma modulator. A digital portion of the analog-to-digital converter may be external to the IC and may comprise, for example, a digital filter.

Aspects of a method and system for an energy efficient temperature sensing crystal integrated circuit (TSCIC) are provided. In this regard, one or more circuits in a temperature sensing crystal integrated circuit (TSCIC) may be configured to control power consumption of the TSCIC. The one or more circuits in the TSCIC may comprise a memory and a crystal. The one or more circuits in the TSCIC may be operable to generate an indication of temperature of the crystal. The one or more circuits in the TSCIC may be configured to control a current supplied to the crystal within the TSCIC, wherein the configuring is based on phase noise requirements of a signal generated by the crystal. Generation of the temperature indication may be enabled or disabled. The enabling or disabling may occur based on a rate of change of a temperature in the TSCIC.

Method and system for an energy efficient temperature sensing crystal integrated circuit

Aspects of a method and system for signal generation via a temperature sensing crystal integrated circuit are provided. In this regard, a temperature sensing crystal integrated circuit (TSCIC) comprising a memory and a crystal or crystal oscillator may generate a signal indicative of a measured temperature. The generated signal and data stored in the memory may be utilized to configure one or more circuits communicatively coupled to the TSCIC. The data stored in the memory may characterize behavior of the TSCIC as a function of temperature and/or time. The data characterizing the behavior of the TSCIC may indicate variations in frequency of the crystal or crystal oscillator as a function of temperature and/or time. The data characterizing the behavior of the TSCIC may comprise one or both of a frequency value and a frequency correction value.

A multiple chip module (MCM) for use with baseband, RF, or IF applications includes a number of active circuit chips having a plurality of different functions. The active circuit chips are mounted on a substrate that is configured to provide an integrated subsystem in a single MCM package. The MCM includes a number of features that enable it to meet electrical performance, high-volume manufacturing, and low-cost requirements. The invention provides techniques for compensating for current leakage from a loop filter during off times of a PLL between on times of the PLL, e.g., when a cell phone is in paging mode. The leakage current is compensated by providing offsetting charge to ensure that the VCO tuning voltage when the PLL is turned from 'off' to 'on' is at or near the VCO tuning voltage when the PLL is locked (the VCO-lock voltage). Several techniques can be used compensate for the leakage current and several techniques can be used to determine how accurately the leakage current is being compensated for, and what, if any, adjustments to make in the offsetting charge to adequately compensate for the leakage current.
