A system and method for enabling a user to interact with a social networking structure for an internet website on a video device connected to a network enabled host device is provided. The present disclosure provides for accessing an internet site in response to a user input, the user input initiated while outputting a program to a display, retrieving content from the internet site based on at least one characteristic associated with the program, and outputting the retrieved content in an overlay or user interface on the display simultaneous with the program. The user interface provides the ability to access multiple profiles for determining whose content or message to display, and also includes a rotating carousel message display system, with a current message surrounded above and below by a previous message and a next message in the display queue in a different size or font.

A user interface (UI) is also provided for displaying content (e.g. messages or tweets) that is output in an overlay for display on a display while program video is playing. System and method for searching an internet networking client on a video device

The marking of a video stream to impart a unique identifier commences by first identifying portions within the video stream readily susceptible to change in a visually imperceptible manner. Thereafter, a combination of visually imperceptible changes is applied to the identified portions at random intervals for randomly varying intervals to mark the video stream. Each change in the stream correlates a particular bit sequence so that a combination of different changes yields a string of bit sequences that can particularly identify the stream.

Method to hide and recover data in a video stream

A more secure CAPTCHA makes use of a distorted alphanumeric character string or strings that include one or more glyphs, pictures or symbols foreign to a target audience. Adding at least one of a glyph, picture or symbol makes recognition of the distorted string trivial since humans who would know which of the character set to expect, but a very difficult decision for a computer already struggling to decide where a character begins and ends, let alone identifying the character as being valid.

An electronic program guide includes a plurality of elements arrayed in a grid of rows and columns, with the rows corresponding to program sources and the columns corresponding to time intervals. Each element corresponds to a program played out from a particular program source during a corresponding time interval. The background of each element changes, such as by way of a color gradient or changing shape, to indicate one of a program beginning or ending. In this way, a viewer can ascertain the length of the program even if the element gets clipped upon updating the electronic program guide.
