A method of manufacturing a handle for a personal grooming device includes forming a substrate portion of a first material. The substrate portion has first and second walls forming a channel extending along a long axis of the substrate portion. An insert member is formed separate from the substrate portion and disposed within the channel. A grip portion of a second material is formed on the substrate portion. The second material substantially encases the insert member.

Razor handles are provided for razors having a battery-powered functionality. Methods of manufacturing such handles are also provided. In one implementation, the handle includes a unitary grip portion constructed to receive a razor head at one end thereof, and a battery cover, mounted on the grip portion. The grip portion and the battery cover, when joined, may together define a water-tight unit prior to mounting of the razor head on the grip portion.

A shaving razor blade unit including a housing having a primary guard at a front of the housing and a primary cap at an upper surface at a back of the housing, one or more primary shaving blades between the primary guard and the primary cap, a rear wall having a rear exterior surface extending downward from the upper surface at the back of the housing to a terminating surface, and a trimming blade mounted on the rear wall and having a trimming cutting edge extending at least partially beyond the terminating surface inside of an imaginary extension of the rear exterior surface, the rear exterior surface defining a secondary cap for the trimming blade. The back of the housing can include trimming guard including spaced guard segments. The trimming blade, trimming guard and trimming cap can be provided as an assembly that is attached to the rest of the housing. The assembly can include a sheet metal support with a blade welded to the support.

A wet shave razor is provided that includes (a) a handle having a hollow head; (b) a cartridge having a body, the body having a surface for engaging the skin of the user and having at least one blade mounted therein; (c) an interconnect member, joined to the cartridge, constructed to pivotably and removably mount the cartridge to a distal end of the handle; and (d) an ejecting mechanism operatively connected to the handle to allow a user to disengage the interconnect member from the distal end of the handle, the ejecting mechanism including an actuator. The razor provides a vibrating function, and thus further includes a vibrating mechanism. A resilient element is positioned between the actuator and the handle, to damp vibration of the actuator in response to the vibration signal.

A cutting member for a shaving razor includes an elongated metal blade having a cutting edge, a blade end, a tapered portion near the blade end and a uniform thickness portion extending from the blade end to the tapered portion, and an elongated bent metal support that has a platform portion, a bent portion and a base portion extending downward from the bent potion. The platform portion extends forward from the bent portion to a front end. The platform portion includes an attachment area that is spaced from the front end and the bent portion, and a flat portion that includes and extends beyond the attachment area. The uniform thickness portion of the blade is supported on the platform portion and secured thereto at the attachment area, the tapered portion extending forward beyond the front end of the platform portion.

Cutting members for shaving razors with multiple blades

A writing instrument with an advance-retract mechanism is operable by rotation of a knob opposite the writing tip. The knob rotates a shaft disposed in, and extending rearwardly from, the instrument body to advance and retract the writing tip when rotated. A retainer member has a first cylindrical portion with a plurality of inwardly extending tangs into which the shaft is received and a larger cylindrical portion having a surface directed toward the instrument body.
