An implant planning system aids delivery of radiation to tumor sites of a patient. The system allows a user to test various combinations of virtual implants, each associated with a corresponding physical implant (e.g., a carrier with an embedded radioactive seed), and to view the dosage area of the virtual implants so that adjustments to the virtual implants may be made until a prescribed dose of radiation to a treatment area is achieved. A treatment plan developed based on the virtual implants may then be used in surgical implantation of the corresponding physical implants. For example, the implant configuration of the treatment plan may be projected onto a treatment surface of a patient, such as in a surgical room, so that physical implants may be placed according to the projected image of the virtual implants.

A transparent loading apparatus (also referred to herein as a 'loader') may partially or entirely comprise transparent material that allows light to pass through the loader and provides the viewer (whether manual or automated) a view of a radioactive seed, a seed carrier, a loading needle, etc. within the loader. In some embodiments, carrier material (e.g., collagen and/or other biocompatible material) and radioactive seeds (e.g., including a metal shielding and radioactive isotope) may transmit light to different degrees. For example, certain carriers, such as collagen carriers, may be translucent, while seeds may be opaque (or mostly opaque) to light. The systems discussed herein allow a viewer to detect location of a seed within a loader, and even within a carrier, because of these different light transmissivity characteristics.

A medical and/or clinical report includes one or more links to various external (and/or internal) data sources and/or systems that include information relevant to the medical report. In an embodiment, a medical report may be in a PDF format and include links to images associated with the exam, information regarding the patient, a scheduling application useful to schedule additional procedures for the patient, and/or any other information associated with the patient or exam. The medical report, including various links, may be generated based on information received from external medical data systems. Systems and methods are disclosed for automatically managing how and when computerized advanced processing techniques (for example, CAD and/or other image processing) are used. In some embodiments, the systems and methods discussed herein allow users, such as radiologists, to efficiently interact with a wide variety of computerized advanced processing ('CAP') techniques using computing devices ranging from picture archiving and communication system ('PACS') workstations to handheld devices such as smartphone and tablets. Furthermore, the systems and methods may, in various embodiments, automatically manage how data associated with these CAP techniques (for example, results of application of one or more computerized advanced processing techniques) are used, such as how data associated with the computerized analyses is reported, whether comparisons to prior abnormalities should be automatically initiated, whether the radiologist should be alerted of important findings, and the like.

Intelligent management of computerized advanced processing

Database systems and techniques are disclosed for accessing data stores of digital medical images, processing the digital images, and displaying the digital images to efficiently provide information in an interactive user interface. The disclosure may advantageously provide efficient and rapid dynamic interaction with digital images accessed from one or more databases to enable user detection of differences between related digital images. Interactive user interfaces may be dynamically updated to provide rapid comparison of digital images. Further, digital images from multiple data sources may be automatically sorted by the system according to attributes associated with the images and rules and/or preferences of the user. In an embodiment the user may select a digital image from a first data source, and the system automatically determines and displays one or more comparison images from other image data sources. Images may additionally be automatically registered and/or matched to enable more efficient comparison and evaluation.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for restricting data, or portions thereof, to specific display devices when accessed by a user. Furthermore, the system and method of the invention are directed, in part, to evaluating in real time, the access level of a device and restricting the availability of sensitive information on the device according to the access level as determined by device location and hardware configuration.

A system and method for transmitting medical data. In one embodiment, a computer system receives filter criteria from a user of a first computer. Furthermore, the computer system may receive schedule information defining a schedule for checking for medical data. Depending on the embodiment, either the computer system or a remote server periodically selects, based upon the received schedule, medical data satisfying the received user-specific rules. The selected medical data is then transmitted to the computer system.

For certain medical images, it is important and/or required that a user view all of a medical image at full resolution so that minute, but important, indicia in the medical image are not missed. Navigating user-interfaces of medical image viewing software using pressure-sensitive displays can increase productivity of the viewer. In certain embodiments, a menu having a number of icons can be provided on a display device such that the icons are arranged around an initial area that is touched by a user's finger or stylus, for example. Due to the icons being arranged around the initial cursor position, any one of the icons from the menu can be chosen with relatively small finger movement and/or changes in pressure applied by the finger.
