A heating assembly for heating an aerosol-forming substrate is provided, the assembly including a cup-shaped heating chamber to receive the substrate to be heated, the chamber being formed at least by a sleeve portion and a bottom portion that is disposed at a distal end of the chamber opposite to an open proximal end of the chamber; a first electrical heater including at least one first heating element circumferentially arranged around the sleeve portion and being configured to heat the sleeve portion at least to a first temperature; and a second electrical heater including at least one second heating element arranged at an outer end face of the bottom portion and being configured to heat the bottom portion at least to a second temperature. An electrically heated aerosol-generating device and an aerosol-generating system including the heating assembly are also provided.

In the second position, the tubular element at least partially extends over the combustible heat source and is configured to reduce the air supply to the combustible heat source. The tubular element is configured to modify a heat output of the combustible heat source, and to control a resistance-to-draw of the smoking article by selectively covering air inlets.

A combustible heat source () for a smoking article () comprises carbon and at least one ignition aid, wherein the ignition aid is present in an amount of at least 20 percent by dry weight of the combustible heat source. The combustible heat source () has a first portion and an opposed second portion. At least part () of the combustible heat source () between the first portion and the second portion is wrapped in a combustion resistant wrapper () that is one or both of heat conducting and substantially oxygen impermeable. Upon ignition of the first portion of the combustible heat source (), the second portion of the combustible heat source increases in temperature to a first temperature. During subsequent combustion of the combustible heat source (), the second portion of the combustible heat source () maintains a second temperature lower than the first temperature.
