A component for securing attachment of a medical device, such as a wound dressing or an ostomy bag is disclosed, to the skin of a patient, said component including a first plastic film coated with a skin-friendly adhesive on the lower side thereof. According to the invention a body of soft, compressible and elastic material is disposed between the first plastic film and a second plastic film, said first and second films extending beyond the compressible body around the circumference thereof and are affixed to each other in parts extending around the circumference of the compressible body so that a closed space containing said compressible body is formed, said closed space being in contact with the surrounding atmosphere by a non-return valve, and in that the first plastic film includes through-going openings in a region delimited by the compressible body.

Component for securing attachment of a medical device to skin

An absorbent article, such as a wound pad, comprising a body of compressed thermoplastic or thermo-set open-celled foam is described, wherein the body has a pattern of ultrasonically made depressions in two opposite sides thereof, the depressions in the opposite sides being coaxial to each other and separated from each other by a common bottom portion which is compressed to a higher extent than the remaining parts of said body. A method for manufacturing such a body is also described.

Wound pad comprising a body of compressed open-celled foam material

A wound dressing with a wound pad and a layer of vapor-permeable material arranged on top of the wound pad and extending peripherally outside the wound pad is described, wherein at least that part of the vapor-permeable layer extending peripherally outside the wound pad is coated with adhesive, and wherein the wound pad includes a liquid-retaining and liquid-transporting layer, and an upper distributing layer and lower distributing layer which bear against the top and underside, respectively, of the liquid-retaining and liquid-transporting layer.
