An optical film for reducing color shift in an LCD is disposed in front of a liquid crystal panel of the LCD. The optical film includes a background layer, a plurality of engraved lens sections formed in the background layer such that the engraved lens sections are spaced apart from each other, and packed portions, each of the packed portions being disposed inside a respective one of the engraved lens sections. The refractive index of the packed portions is different from that of the background layer. The packed portions are partially packed inside the engraved lens sections. The refractive index of the packed portions is greater than that of the background layer. The background layer and the packed portions are made of transparent polymer resin.

Optical film for reducing color shift and liquid crystal display having the same

An optical film for reducing color shift and an LCD having the same. The optical film is disposed in front of a display panel of the LCD. The optical film includes a background layer and a plurality of engraved or embossed lens sections formed in the background layer such that they are spaced apart from each other. When light having different colors depending on a viewing angle and a grayscale level is emitted, a portion of the light incident onto the lens sections is diffused, and is thus mixed with another portion of the light passing between adjacent lens sections. The cross-section of the lens sections includes first, second and third sides. The first and second sides face each other and are connected by the third side. The average curvature of the third side is smaller than that of the first side and than that of the second side.

A flat display and a method of fabricating the same, in which the fabrication of the flat display is facilitated by employing a plate-to-plate method. The method of fabricating a flat display panel includes the steps of forming an optical bonding resin layer by applying an optical bonding resin on the underside of a transparent film, attaching a filter to the upper surface of the transparent film, and attaching the optical bonding resin layer to the upper surface of a display panel using a plate-to-plate method.
