The present invention relates to a battery pack including a bare cell for charge/discharge of an electric current; a protection circuit board electrically connected to the bare cell and protecting the bare cell against overcharge/discharge thereof; a connector serving as a current path between the bare cell and an external apparatus; a cover frame disposed on the bare cell to cover the protection circuit board; and a connector housing where the connector is disposed and which is exposed to the outside of the cover frame. The assembly strength of the battery pack is improved due to solid mounting of the connector housing on the protection circuit board and non-separable connection of the connector housing and the cover frame.

Battery pack

The present invention relates to a connector assembly and a battery pack having the same. For this purpose, provided are a connector assembly with optimized size and mounting area of the connector assembly serving as a current-carrying medium of the battery pack, and improved bond strength between the connector terminal and the housing, and a battery pack having the same.

Connector assembly and battery pack having the same

In a rechargeable battery, a case is combined with an upper surface of a bare cell by being fixed to a lead plate electrically coupling a protection circuit board of a protection circuit module to the bare cell. Alternatively, the case is combined with the bare cell by being fixed to the protection circuit board so as not to be separated from the bare cell, thereby improving the reliability of the products.

Rechargeable battery

A protective circuit module and a secondary battery including the same. The secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly, a can to house the electrode assembly, and a cap assembly to seal an opening of the can. The protective circuit module includes: a first module electrically connected to the cap assembly; a second module electrically connected to a closed end of the can; and a third module electrically connecting the first module and the second module. The first module includes a mounting portion that is disposed in a groove between the can and the cap assembly.

Protective circuit module and secondary battery including the same

Disclosed is a pack type secondary battery that can be assembled by a simple process. The secondary battery comprises: a bare cell; a protection circuit module including a circuit board and a supporting member to combine the circuit board with the bare cell; and a top case covering the circuit board of the protection circuit module, where the supporting member of the protection circuit module is provided with a first coupling part and the top case is provided with a second coupling part combined with the first coupling part and the first coupling part of the supporting member is combined with the second coupling part of the top case by an interference fit method.

Secondary battery

Disclosed is a lithium polymer battery, which includes: an electrode assembly; an outer case receiving the electrode assembly, where an electrode tab of the electrode assembly is withdrawn out of the outer case; a protection circuit module provided at one side of the outer case, where an inner connection terminal of the protection circuit module is connected to the electrode tab of the electrode assembly and provided in parallel to the withdrawn direction of the electrode tab. The lithium polymer battery can improve reliability and safety of an electrical coupling state between a bare cell and a protection circuit module and assembling workability between the electrode tab and connection terminals by mechanically and electrically coupling them to each other without bending the electrode tab.

Lithium polymer battery

An easily assembled pack type secondary battery. The secondary battery includes a bare cell, a protection circuit module having a circuit board and coupled with the bare cell, and a top case covering the circuit board of the protection circuit module and having a coupling slot into which at least part of the circuit board is fitted. The secondary battery allows the top case to be attached to the protective circuit module and the bare cell without having to use an adhesive and without requiring an injection molding technique.

An energy storage system including a battery cell, a tray for receiving the battery cell, and a rack for receiving the tray. The rack includes a connector unit. The connector unit is configured to connect to the tray inserted into the rack and to vibrate together with the tray when the tray vibrates due to, for example, an earth quake or external impact applied to the rack, thereby preventing an electric connection between the tray and the connector unit from being broken.

Energy storage system

A battery pack that can quickly transfer heat from a battery cell to a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) to quickly cut off a current when the battery cell is heated to a high temperature. A battery pack includes: a battery cell including a cell tab; a protective circuit module including an internal terminal connected to the cell tab, a PTC connected to the internal terminal, and an interconnection pattern between the internal terminal and the PTC and electrically connecting the internal terminal to the PTC; and a heat transfer member including a surface contacting the interconnection pattern, and opposite sides respectively connected to the internal terminal and the PTC.

A battery pack having a holder case capable of preventing short-circuit between a cap plate and an electric terminal, instead of a washer, thereby increasing a coupling force between the holder case and a bare cell while minimizing the volume of the battery pack. The battery pack includes a bare cell including an electrode assembly, a can accommodating the electrode assembly, and a cap assembly for finishing an upper opening of the can, a holder case including a bottom portion covering one side surface of the bare cell, first and second support portions formed at first and second sides of the bottom portion, and an insulating portion fixed while covering a portion of a cap plate forming the cap assembly, a protection circuit module coupled to an upper portion of the holder case, and a cover case fixed to one side surface of the bare cell while covering the holder case and the protection circuit module.

A protection module capable of being utilized by a secondary battery regardless of the external mounting structure of the secondary battery for mounting the secondary battery to an external device. Accordingly, it is unnecessary to separately manufacture a protective circuit module according to the external mounting structure of the battery. The secondary battery includes: a plurality of bare cells each of which includes a can, an electrode assembly, and a cap assembly; a first protective circuit module located on the upper surface of the bare cells that is formed by the cap assemblies; and a secondary protective circuit module located on a side surface of the bare cells that is formed by curved surfaces of the cans. The first protective circuit module and the second protective circuit module are electrically connected to each other.

Protective circuit module and secondary battery having the same

A protection circuit board, a secondary battery with the protection circuit board, and a battery pack comprising the secondary battery. A PTC device which is a secondary protection device is provided on the protection circuit board, and is installed in electrical connection with an electrode terminal of a bare cell of the secondary battery. According to a structural configuration where the PTC device is electrically connected to the bare cell while being installed on the protection circuit board, the PTC device sensitively responds to temperature changes of the bare cell to thereby cut off a flow of electric current. Due to such a structural configuration of the PTC device, formation of an electrode lead is excluded for electrical connection with the bare cell on the protection circuit board. Consequently, a pattern-forming area which is designed on the protection circuit board increases.

Protection circuit board, secondary battery and battery pack

A secondary battery includes grooves formed in a cap plate into which conducting support members are disposed allowing for the exact connection of a protection circuit board to a predetermined position of the battery. The secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a can to house the electrode assembly; a cap assembly; a protection circuit board electrically coupled to an electrode terminal of the cap assembly; and a conducting support member connected to a groove formed in the cap plate and soldered to the protection circuit board. The protection circuit board is electrically and mechanically connected to the groove formed in the cap plate, thereby allowing the protection circuit board to be exactly connected to a predetermined position of the cap plate.
