An electron emission display includes first and second substrates facing each other to form a vacuum envelope, a plurality of driving electrodes formed on the first substrate, a plurality of electron emission regions controlled by the driving electrodes, a focusing electrode disposed on and insulated from the driving electrodes and provided with first openings through which electron beams pass, a plurality of phosphor layers formed on a surface of the second substrate, an anode electrode formed on surfaces of the phosphor layers, and a plurality of spacers for maintaining a gap between the first and second substrates. The focusing electrode includes second openings for forming a potential control unit for forming a potential well, the potential control unit being formed between the first openings to correspond to the spacers. The potential well attracts the electron beams, improving the directionality of the beams.

Electron emission display having electron beams with reduced distortion

The present invention relates to an electron emission device, and more particularly, to an electron emission device comprising a grid electrode having a thermal expansion coefficient ranging from about 80 to about 120% of the thermal expansion coefficient of the first or second substrate of the electron emission device. The grid electrode is fixed in position by minimizing misalignment caused by a difference in thermal expansion coefficients between the grid electrode and the first and second substrates of the electron emission device. The grid electrode also minimizes generation of arc discharge. However, even when arc discharge is generated, the grid electrode prevents damage to the cathode electrodes and gate electrodes from that arc discharge. According to the present invention, an electron emission device with increased brightness and resolution is easily realized by applying increased voltage to the anode electrode.

Grid electrode for electron emission device, and electron emission device including the same

A field emission display including a first substrate and a second substrate opposing one another with a predetermined gap therebetween. An electron emission assembly is formed on the first substrate that emits electrons by the formation of an electric field. An illumination assembly is formed on the second substrate that realizes the display of images by the emitted electrons. A grid plate is mounted between the first and second substrates and functions to focus the emitted electrons. The grid plate includes a mask section having a plurality of apertures for passing the electrons, and supports mounted to one side of the mask section and extending in a direction toward the first substrate to rest on the same and support the mask section. The mask section and the supports are made of same material or two different materials.

Field emission display having grid plate with multi-layered structure

A field emission display includes a first substrate and a second substrate that face one another with a predetermined gap therebetween. An electron emission assembly that emits electrons by generating an electric field is formed on the first substrate, and an illumination assembly that realizes the display of images responsive to the emitted electrons is formed on the second substrate. A grid plate is mounted between the first and second substrates and is configured to focus the emitted electrons. The grid plate includes a mask section having apertures through which electron beams formed by the emitted electrons are passed, and protrusions integrally formed thereon and extending from one side of the mask section to support the mask section over the first substrate.

Field emission display having grid plate

Disclosed is a flat panel display device for preventing a grid electrode from causing alignment error and being distorted due to thermal expansion and contraction. The grid electrode includes a mask portion with apertures through which electrons may pass, and fixtures arranged external to the mask portion with a predetermined margin for allowing thermal expansion and contraction of the mask portion. The fixtures are arranged symmetrical to each other up and down as well as left and right. The fixtures fix the mask portion such that the expansion and the extraction of the mask portion proceed opposite to one another.

A flat panel display includes a vacuum container having a pair of flat panels disposed facing each other at a predetermined gap, and a spacer disposed between the panels to maintain the gap. The spacer includes plural sub-spacers bonded to each other at least one bonding portion.

Flat panel display with photosensitive glass spacer

A side bar for a flat panel display device is disposed between a faceplate and a backplate of the flat panel display device such that it seals the two plates and maintains a constant gap between the two plates. The side bar includes contacting surfaces confronting the facing surfaces of the faceplate and the backplate, and a paste-receiving groove formed on each contacting surface in a longitudinal direction. The paste-receiving groove is provided with adhesive paste for sealing the faceplate to the backplate. The present invention further provides a side bar which has a getter-receiving groove formed thereon adjacent to the paste-receiving groove. The getter-receiving groove is provided with a getter used for improving the vacuum degree of the flat panel display device. The present invention also encompasses a flat panel display device employing the side bar described above, and a method of manufacturing the side bar for a flat panel display device.
