An optical transmitter and an optical module including the optical transmitter are provided. The optical transmitter may include a support substrate, a temperature control module disposed on the support substrate, a sub-mount disposed on the temperature control module, a prism disposed on the temperature control module and having a sloped surface, a light receiving element disposed on the temperature control module, a light emitting element disposed on the sub-mount, and a thermistor disposed on the sub-mount. The light receiving element may be disposed separately from the sub-mount in a first direction, and the prism may be disposed between the light receiving element and the sub-mount. Some first light emitted from the light emitting element may be reflected by the sloped surface of the prism, and some of the first light may pass through the prism and be received by the light receiving element.

Optical transmitter and optical module including the same

Disclosed is an optical module including an optical transmitter which is configured to output a first optical signal, an optical receiver which is configured to receive a second optical signal, a holder which is configured to include an optical fiber on which the first optical signal is incident and from which the second optical signal is emitted. The optical module further includes a first optical filter disposed between the optical transmitter and the holder to transmit the first optical signal and reflect the second optical signal, a first parallel light lens disposed between the first optical filter and the optical transmitter, and a second parallel light lens disposed between the first optical filter and the holder.

Optical module

An optical module includes a case including an optical filter, a receptacle coupled to the case, an optical receiver, and an optical transmitter. The receptacle includes a recess formed along an outer circumferential surface thereof. The recess may be formed by a first side wall and a second side wall which face each other and a bottom surface coupling the first side wall to the second side wall. Further, at least one of the first side wall and the second side wall may include an insulating material.

Bi-directional optical transceiver module

Disclosed herein is a single wavelength bi-directional optical transceiver for transmitting/receiving optical signals having the same wavelength through an optical communication system. The optical transceiver includes a transmitter including an isolator and converting an external input signal into an optical transmit signal, an optical filter reflecting some of the optical transmit signal and transmitting the other of the optical transmit signal, an optical fiber transmitting the optical transmit signal transmitted by the optical filter to a counterpart optical transceiver, a receiver receiving an optical receive signal from the counterpart optical transceiver via the optical fiber, and a body enclosing a portion of the transmitter, the optical filter, a portion of the optical fiber and a portion of the receiver. An incidence angle (&#x3b8;) formed between a central axis of the transmitter and a central axis of the optical fiber is adjusted to allow the optical transmit signal to be obliquely incident into the optical fiber in order to reduce reflection of the optical transmit signal by the optical fiber without coupling with the optical fiber when the transmitter transmits the optical transmit signal to the optical fiber.
