Provided are an acousto-optic element, an acousto-optic element array, and a display apparatus including the acousto-optic element array. The acousto-optic element includes: an acousto-optic modulator which includes an acousto-optic layer formed of an acousto-optic material; a light supplier which supplies light to the acousto-optic modulator in a first direction; a first sound-wave modulator which applies first elastic waves to the acousto-optic modulator in a second direction; and a second sound-wave modulator which applies second elastic waves to the acousto-optic modulator in a third direction. The light supplied from the light supplier to the acousto-optic modulator is deflected by diffraction caused by the first elastic waves applied from the first sound-wave modulator and diffraction caused by the second elastic waves applied from the second sound-wave modulator, and is output from the acousto-optic modulator through a front side of the acousto-optic modulator.

The present disclosure relates to a method of transferring semiconductor elements from a non-flexible substrate to a flexible substrate. The present disclosure also relates to a method of manufacturing a flexible semiconductor device based on the method of transferring semiconductor elements. The semiconductor elements grown or formed on a non-flexible substrate may be effectively transferred to a resin layer while maintaining an arrangement of the semiconductor elements. The resin layer may function as a flexible substrate for supporting the vertical semiconductor elements.

Provided is a method of transferring semiconductor elements formed on a non-flexible substrate to a flexible substrate. Also, provided is a method of manufacturing a flexible semiconductor device based on the method of transferring semiconductor elements. A semiconductor element grown or formed on the substrate may be efficiently transferred to the resin layer while maintaining an arrangement of the semiconductor elements. The core is bent in a curve and a radius of curvature of the curve is a resonance radius at which an intensity of transmitted light with respect to a wavelength of incident light is a maximum. Thus, the direction of the incident light can be changed by a predetermined angle while maintaining the field enhancement characteristic of the conventional near field enhanced aperture without an additional optical element.

An integrated optical head is provided. In the integrated optical head, a light source emits light. A waveguide guides the light. An input coupler is located at one edge of the waveguide, and couples light emitted from the light source and transmits the coupled light to the waveguide. An output coupler is located at another edge of the waveguide, and couples light emitted from the waveguide and focuses the coupled light on an optical disc. A light path changing unit is installed on the waveguide, and changes the light path of light that has been reflected by the optical disc and then passed through the output coupler. An optical detector receives the light passed through the light path changing unit and converts the received light into an electrical signal in order to detect information from the optical disc. Accordingly, an input coupling efficiency and an output coupling efficiency are improved, such that light loss is reduced. Thus, recording and reproduction of an optical head can be improved, and a light, compact, integrated optical head can be obtained.

A hybrid achromatic optical lens having a high numerical aperture whose chromatic aberration is removed and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The hybrid achromatic optical lens includes a first optical member of a low index of refraction and a second optical member of a high index of refraction. The second optical member is formed on a depressed portion of the first optical member and has a diffractive surface, which is a contact surface of the second optical member with the first optical member and has a plurality of pitches formed on a refractive surface. The method for manufacturing the hybrid achromatic optical lens includes forming a profile of a diffractive surface having a plurality of pitches on a molding die whose one surface is the same as a profile of a refractive surface, forming a depression having the diffractive surface on a first optical member having a low index of refraction using the molding die, and coating a material having a high index of refraction on the depression, grinding a surface of material, and forming a second optical member having a high index of refraction.

Hybrid achromatic optical lens and method for manufacturing the same

An integrated optical head is provided. In the integrated optical head, a light source emits light. A waveguide guides the light. An input coupler is located at one edge of the waveguide, and couples light emitted from the light source and transmits the coupled light to the waveguide. An output coupler is located at another edge of the waveguide, and couples light emitted from the waveguide and focuses the coupled light on an optical disc. A light path changing unit is installed on the waveguide, and changes the light path of light that has been reflected by the optical disc and then passed through the output coupler. An optical detector receives the light passed through the light path changing unit and converts the received light into an electrical signal in order to detect information from the optical disc Accordingly, an input coupling efficiency and an output coupling efficiency are improved, such that light loss is reduced. Thus, recording and reproduction of an optical head can be improved, and a light, compact, integrated optical head can be obtained.

A planar lens capable of compensating for chromatic aberration and which is easy to manufacture and enables easy assembling of optical pickups and a method for fabricating the planar lens are provided. The planar lens includes a transparent substrate with a lens cavity in a surface of the transparent substrate, and a lens element formed in the lens cavity with a first refracting surface in contact with the bottom of the lens cavity and a second diffracting surface having a diffraction grating opposite to the first refracting surface.

Planar lens and method for fabricating the same

A cover plate for an optical disk drive designed to reduce disk vibrations and noise is provided. The cover plate is installed above a main frame of the optical disk drive and has a through hole in the center through which a disk clamp for clamping a disk placed on a turntable is fitted and a projection formed to oppose the disk up to a predetermined height in order to narrow a gap with the disk. Furthermore, the cover plate has a circular step formed opposite a surface corresponding to an outer circumference of the disk in the shape of an annular groove for lowering acoustic energy density of noise. The cover plate constructed in this way reduces disk vibration due to air damping effects resulting from a narrow gap between the disk and the cover plate while suppressing noise due to the presence of the abruptly expanded portion. Furthermore, the cover plate can be implemented without a separate device by making simple changes to the structure of cover plate.
