Adhesives comprising: a) 35-85 weight percent of a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising: i) a polymer selected from rubbers and polyacrylate polymers and ii) optionally one or more tackifiers; and dispersed therein b) 15-50 weight percent fire retardant (FR) particles comprising one or more phosphorus-containing compounds selected from organophosphine oxides and organophosphinates. In some embodiments, the phosphorus-containing compounds comprise 35-65 weight percent of an organophosphine oxide and 65-35 weight percent of an organophosphinate. The FR particles may have a D50 particle size of 1-120 micrometers, 40-120 micrometers, or 70-120 micrometers. Adhesive films comprising the adhesives described herein may be free-standing adhesive films or adhesive layers comprised in tapes.

Water-based fire retardant thin film adhesive

A composition is described comprising a cyclic olefin; a ring opening metathesis polymerization catalyst; and at least 40 wt. % of thermally conductive particles. The thermally conductive particles are selected such that the composition after curing has a thermal conductivity of at least 1W/M*K. In one embodiment, the thermally conductive particle comprises a combination of smaller and larger thermally conductive particles. In another embodiment, the thermally conductive particles comprise boron nitride particles. Also described are (e.g. structural) adhesives, methods of bonding and articles.

Compositions comprising cyclic olefins and thermally conductive filler

A method of making a (meth)acrylate copolymer having pendent phosphate-containing groups and a pressure-sensitive adhesive that contains the (meth)acrylate copolymer having pendent phosphate-containing groups are provided. The method includes reacting a precursor (meth)acrylate copolymer having pendent carboxylic acid groups with an epoxy-functionalized phosphate compound. The pendent phosphate-containing groups on the reaction product can function as a flame retardant for the pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Flame retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive and method of making

Provided are non-woven fibrous webs, methods and assemblies thereof. The non-woven fibrous web comprises a plurality of melt-blown fibers. The plurality of melt-blown fibers include a thermoplastic polymer blended with a phosphinate and/or polymeric phosphonate. The provided non-woven articles can afford a fine fiber diameter for enhanced acoustic insulation properties, dimensional stability, and superior flame-retardant properties when compared with conventional non-woven articles having similar fiber diameters.

An assembly includes an enclosure including first and second regions spaced apart along a first direction, and a plurality of spaced apart acoustic baffles arranged along a second direction different from the first direction and disposed in the enclosure between the first and second regions. The plurality of spaced apart acoustic baffles includes adjacent first and second acoustic baffles. Each of the first and second acoustic baffles include an acoustically absorptive layer disposed on a sheet having a specific airflow resistance greater than 200 MKS Rayl. The first and second acoustic baffles define a channel therebetween. At least a portion of the channel extends along a longitudinal direction making an oblique angle with the first direction.

A decorative sheet according to an embodiment of the present disclosure contains a film layer having an upper face and a lower face, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer adhered to the lower face of the film layer, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer containing an acrylic-based adhesive and 5 part by mass to 10 part by mass % of ammonium polyphosphate per 100 part by mass of the acrylic-based adhesive.

Provided is a multilayer thermal insulator and related method that use a non-woven core layer comprising non-meltable and flame-resistant polymeric fibers. One or more scrims are disposed on the opposing major surfaces of the non-woven core layer, and a peripheral edge of the one or more scrims is either edge sealed or capable of being edge sealed to substantially encapsulate the non-woven core layer within the one or more scrims. Optionally, a binder is provided on the scrims or non-woven core layer to facilitate edge sealing. The provided insulators are essentially dust-free and capable of passing stringent flammability standards.

Flame retardant, pressure-sensitive adhesive, and curable composition

A cable includes a plurality of conductor sets. Each conductor set extending along a length of the cable and includes two or more insulated conductors, each insulated conductor including a central conductor surrounded by a dielectric material that includes polyolefin, a brominated flame retardant, and antimony trioxide. First and second conductive shielding films are disposed on opposite first and second sides of the conductor set, including cover portions and pinched portions arranged such that, in transverse cross section, the cover portions of the first and second shielding films in combination substantially surround the conductor set, and the pinched portions of the first and second shielding films in combination form pinched portions of the conductor set on each side of the conductor set. The cable includes an adhesive layer bonding the first shielding film to the second shielding film in the pinched portions of the conductor set.

Flame retardant twin axial cable

This disclosure relates to flame retardants that are useful for epoxy resin systems. Coating compositions and methods are provided the include an epoxy resin and a phosphate-containing flame retardant wherein the phosphate-containing flame retardant is selected from Group 1 metallic salts of a phosphate of a saccharide, Group 2 salts of a glycerophosphate, and Group 1 metallic salts of a polyphosphate. The provided flame retardants have low toxicity and are friendly to the environment.

Halogen-free flame retardants for epoxy resin systems

A phosphorus-containing silsesquioxane is represented by the formula[RSiO][RSiO][RSiO][(RO)PO(CH)SiO]wherein each of R, R, R, and Rindependently represents a hydrocarbyl group; x represents an integer of from 1 to 8; m is a positive number less than 1.5; n and q are positive numbers greater than 0 and less than 1; and p is a number greater than or equal to 0 and less than 1. Further, (n+p)/q is in a range of from 0.5 to 99, and (n+p+q)=1. Curable and cured compositions comprising the phosphorus-containing silsesquioxane are disclosed.
