In one embodiment, this invention discloses polyester-based toner particles suitable to be dyed directly and coated with charge control agent and flow agent to result in particles suitable for color toner applications. This invention discloses a novel process to prepare multi-block copolymers with high molecular weights from two immiscible polymer segments. In one embodiment, the two polymer segments are reacted in a solvent mixture which comprises N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone and diglyme. Copolymers having a controlled sequence structure

High to ultrahigh polyester compositions comprising monomer units derived from 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, 4,4'-bibenzoic acid and ethylene glycol are useful as fibers and molding resins when the mole ratio of 4,4'-bibenzoic acid to 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid is from about 60:40 to about 40:60, and especially when the two diacids are included in about equimolar amounts. These compositions yield fiber with excellent tensile properties, both at room temperature and at elevated temperatures. When these compositions are melt spun at a relatively low melt temperature and high draw down ratio, fibers with excellent tensile properties are obtained without a subsequent drawing step.

High molecular weight copolyesters for high modulus fibers

Aromatic polyesters containing monomer units derived from terephthalic acid, one or more aromatic diols, such as bisphenol A, and one or more aromatic hydroxyacids, such as 4-hydroxybenzoic acid or 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, are described. The aromatic hydroxyacid is incorporated in a quantity sufficient to yield a polymer which is non-crystalline and which has a low enough softening temperature that it can be readily synthesized in the melt with a useful molecular weight without the need for subsequent solid state polymerization. These aromatic polyesters are useful for making transparent articles with high temperature properties.
