An apparatus for displaying sectional planes of a target object utilizing 3 dimensional (3D) ultrasound data. The apparatus is capable of scanning the target object in real time by improving a scan conversion speed and virtually scans the target object by storing previously acquired 3D data. The apparatus, which displays a target object by using 3D ultrasound data, includes 1) a scan conversion unit for performing scan conversion to convert Cartesian coordinates for display on a screen of a display device to conical coordinates of 3D data, and 2) a rendering unit for rendering multiple sectional plane images, based on the 3D scan conversion, parallel with a reference sectional plane.

Apparatus and method for displaying sectional planes of target object utilizing 3-dimensional ultrasound data

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for rendering volume data in an ultrasound diagnostic system. A method for rendering volume data including an object space and an empty space acquired from ultrasound data, comprises the following steps: a) casting a virtual ray from at least one pixel comprising a viewing plane into the volume data; b) sampling voxels of the volume data along the virtual ray in a first sampling interval; c) checking whether a currently sampled voxel corresponds to the object space or the empty space by using opacity based on a voxel value of a sampled voxel; d) at step c), if it is determined that the currently sampled voxel corresponds to the object space, then returning to the previously sampled voxel and sampling voxels in a second sampling interval shorter than the first sampling interval; e) checking whether accumulated opacity calculated based on the sampled voxels along the virtual ray is greater than a critical value; f) at step e), if it is determined that the accumulated opacity is greater than the critical value, then completing the sampling process for the current virtual ray and calculating a rendering value by using the voxel values and the opacity of the sampled voxels; and g) repeating the steps a) to f) until the sampling process for the pixels comprising the viewing plane is completed.

Apparatus and method for rendering volume data

The present invention relates to an apparatus for processing an ultrasound image of a target object including a periodically moving object, including: an ROI setting unit for setting regions of interest (ROIs) to each of frames constituting ultrasound volume data acquired from a target object; a VOI setting unit for selecting a predetermined number of first reference frames from the ultrasound volume data and setting a predetermined number of volumes of interest (VOIs) by combining ROIs of the first reference frames with ROIs of frames adjacent to the reference frames; a motion compensating unit for processing the VOIs to compensate a motion of the target object; a correlation coefficient curve calculating unit for calculating a correlation coefficient curve for a predetermined interval at each VOI; a period setting unit for setting a moving period of the moving object based on the correlation coefficient curve in the volume data; and an ultrasound volume data reconstructing unit for reconstructing the ultrasound volume data based on the moving period.

Apparatus and method for processing an ultrasound image

The present invention relates to a rendering apparatus and method for a real-time 3D ultrasound diagnostic system, which can improve both the speed of rendering in a real-time manner 3D ultrasonic images and 2D ultrasonic images therefrom, based on the view operation for displaying ultrasonic images for a target object and the speed of scanning and converting 3D data.
