Presented herein are methods, systems, devices, and computer-readable media for image annotation for medical procedures. The system operates in a parallel manner. In one flow, the system starts from clinical terms and image and applies image detection module in order to get visual candidates for related radiological finding and provide them with semantic descriptors. In the second (parallel) flow, the system produces a list of prioritized semantic descriptors (with probabilities). The second flow is done by application of a reverse inference algorithm that uses clinical terms and expert clinical knowledge. The results of both flows combined by matching module for detection the best candidate and with limited user input images can be annotated. The clinical terms are extracted from clinical documents by textual analysis.

Method for automatic visual annotation of radiological images from patient clinical data

An apparatus for analysing a head CT scan, where the head CT scan includes a plurality of cross-sections, includes a processor configured to select a first cross-section from among the plurality of cross-sections in the head CT scan; and analyse the first cross-section to determine whether the whole head CT scan was taken with contrast. The analyzing includes determining whether the first cross-section shows contrast, based on a presence of bright patches in the first cross-section, determining whether an amount of sulci in the first cross-section is below a threshold amount. In response to determining that the first cross-section shows contrast, determine that the whole head CT scan was taken with contrast, and in response to the determining that the first cross-section does not show contrast and that the amount of sulci is below the threshold amount determining that the whole head CT scan was taken without contrast.

System for detecting contrast in medical scans

A system for identifying a potential altered image includes an image analysis unit to analyse an image and output a result indicating whether the image shows a predetermined feature and a processor to obtain a first output from the image analysis unit for an image that has a plurality of pixels each having a pixel value, obtain an altered version of the image by adjusting pixel values of up to a predetermined threshold amount of pixels in the image, obtain a second output from the image analysis unit for the altered version of the image, determine whether the second output is different to the first output, and identify that the image is a potential altered image in response to determining that the second output is different to the first output.

System for detecting an adapted image

This invention relates to a method and system for creating Big Data applications that can be executed on heterogeneous clusters. The applications can be executed on a particular platform, such as SPARK or UIMA-AS, but the method and system are able to translate the input to these targeted platforms without the developer needing to tailor the application specifically to the platform. The method and system are based on the use of an execution dependency graph, a cluster configuration, and a data size to create a stages table. The stages table is then optimized to increase the overall efficiency of the heterogeneous cluster. The stages table is then translated into a platform specific Big Data application.

The method further comprises automatically identifying, by a processor, a tissue segment within the image, wherein said identifying comprises identifying an artifact within the image, wherein the artifact is a misrepresentation of a tissue structure, wherein the misrepresentation is associated with the imaging modality; and searching for the tissue segment in a location adjacent to the artifact.

Automatic image segmentation

A computer-implemented method for automating interaction with a computer system includes linking a control computer system to an input interface and to an output interface of a client computer system, which is operative for producing user interface images on a display device. The control computer system executes distinct software modules that include a virtual operator for simulating actions of a human operator. Execution of the software modules causes the control computer system to capture an image from the output interface, and to recognize information in the image. In response to the information, the virtual operator controls an input device to automatically execute predetermined operations on the client computer system via the input interface.

Automatic generation of semantic description of visual findings in medical images

Method, system, and computer program product are provided for processing an ultrasound image, in particular an image of inhomogeneous tissue. The method includes: segmenting tissue in a received ultrasound image; creating a mask of pixels centred on a pixel in a tissue area, wherein the pixels in the mask are within a given decibel range of the central pixel and within a segmentation boundary; and assigning an attenuation to the central pixel by estimating the attenuation of the pixels in the mask. The received ultrasound image may be a raw image the method may include creating an image of an attenuation mapping of attenuations for each pixel in a tissue area. Alternatively, the received ultrasound image may be a time gain compensated image the method may include determining areas of relatively high or low attenuation.

A computerized method of classifying at least one suspicious region of interest (ROI) in an ultrasonic attenuation image mapping tissue of a patient. The method comprises receiving an US image of an tissue, identifying a suspicious region of interest (ROI) in the US image, generating an attenuation map of the suspicious ROI, measuring, according to an analysis of the attenuation map, at least one attenuation feature of at least one of the suspicious ROI and at least one sub region in the suspicious ROI, and classifying the suspicious ROI according to the at least one attenuation feature.

Tumor classification based on an analysis of a related ultrasonic attenuation map

A computer implemented method for correcting distortion in an image of a page includes identifying a set of high quality (HQ) words in undistorted regions of one or more images of pages having content related to the content of the page. At least one distorted word in the image the page is identified such that each distorted word corresponds to a high quality word of the set. A global transformation function is generated for application to the image of the page so as to transform the distorted word into its corresponding high quality word. The global transformation function is applied to pixels of the image of the page.

Correcting page curl in scanned books

A method, system and computer software product are provided for process automation. The method includes monitoring one or more workstations to obtain multiple sets of character and graphical information including user actions, times and durations associated with the user actions, user-entered data, and retrieved character and graphical screen data. The method further includes identifying functional events from the sets, defining focal states as respective historic patterns of the functional events, and generating a set of facilitating scripts associated with respective ones of the focal states. The facilitating scripts each provide one or more automatic actions in the workstations. At least a portion of the set of facilitating scripts are then executed.

A method, system, and computer program product are provided for process automation. The method includes: monitoring one or more workstations including monitoring screen contents and user actions at the workstation; and analysing the screen contents and user actions into monitored functional events. The method further includes: providing multiple focal states as defined sequences of functional events with one or more facilitating scripts associated with a focal state, wherein a facilitating script provides one or more automatic actions; and matching a sequence of monitored functional events to a defined sequence of functional events of a focal state. The one or more automatic actions of a facilitating script associated with the matched focal state are then applied.
