A method for braking a motor in a high lift system of an aircraft, the high lift system comprising a central power drive unit for moving high lift surfaces arranged at a wing through providing rotational power by means of a transmission shaft to a plurality of drive stations operably coupled with the high lift surfaces; which power drive unit is operatively coupled to a controller and comprises at least one electric motor coupled therewith. The method includes determining a braking requirement for the at least one electric motor, measuring at least one of a current command to the motor and a current speed and direction of the at least one electric motor, based on the braking requirement, applying a braking command to the at least one electric motor, and reducing the braking command as the at least one electric motor comes to rest.

A digital information transfer system includes an electronic driver unit in electrical communication with a power supply to receive an input voltage. The driver converts the input data into output data based on a digital information transfer system protocol. An electronic fault detection is configured to determine a fault condition of the at least one output transmission line based on a comparison between a voltage level of the at least one output transmission line and the input voltage. An electronic fault protection module is in electrical communication with each of the driver unit, the at least one output transmission line and the fault detection module. The electronic fault protection module is configured to selectively disconnect the driver unit from the at least one output transmission line in response to detecting the fault condition.

A system and method for controlling a brake coil in a motor having a control processor and a controller in communication with the control processor, the controller comprising a processor and memory with instructions stored thereon when executed by the processor cause the controller to receive signals indicative of threshold current values for the brake coil; provide enabling signals to each of a high-side and low-side driver circuit; receive signals indicative of a sensed current in the brake coil; compare the sensed current with the threshold current values; and provide an adjustment signal if the sensed current is outside a known range of values for the threshold current values.

A feed-through capacitor is constructed in a printed wiring board using alternating layers of metal capacitive layers and plastic dielectric layers of the printed wiring board. The large number of layers, the avoidance of ceramic layers and the flexible geometry of this device allow it to be used in many applications, particularly in those involving high power high current. Also, because it utilizes a printed wiring board, the capacitor can be made in numerous sizes and shapes.

An electrical cable assembly is provided including multiple cables having wires. The cables each include a shield. A connector receives ends of the wires and includes an outer surface. A conductive shield ring has an outer periphery and includes multiple holes receiving the cables. The shield of each cable engages an inner surface provided by a corresponding hole in the shield ring. In one example, the circumference of each shield is soldered to the corresponding hole. A wrap engages the outer periphery and the outer surface to electrically connect the connector to the shields. In one example, the wrap is conductive heat shrink wrap that surrounds and engages the entire outer surface of the shield ring.
