Provided are apparatus and systems for performing a swing adsorption process. This swing adsorption process may involve passing streams through adsorbent bed units to remove contaminants, such as water, from the stream. As part of the process, the adsorbent bed unit is purged with a purge stream that is provided from the overhead of the demethanizer. The configuration integrates a PPSA dehydration system with a cryogenic recovery system.

Apparatus and system for swing adsorption processes related thereto

A method is provided for enhancing the shear stability of a high-viscosity fluid-water flow system, such as a core annular flow system. The method employs a family of demulsifier additives for maintaining separation of the fluids in biphasic flow. The additive family is sodium salts of polynuclear aromatic sulfonic acids. In one aspect, the high-viscosity fluid is heavy oil. A method to flow oil through a biphasic flow system is also provided. The method includes locating an oil in the biphasic flow system; placing water within the biphasic flow system; flowing the oil through the biphasic flow system within an annular flow of water; and subjecting the water in the biphasic flow system to a salt of a polynuclear aromatic sulfonic acid additive so as to improve shear stability of the oil and water.

The present invention relates the separation of a target gas from a mixture of gases through the use of engineered structured adsorbent contactors in pressure swing adsorption and thermal swing adsorption processes. Removal of heavy hydrocarbons from gas mixtures containing heavy hydrocarbons and methane

The present invention relates to the separation of one or more of CO, N, and HS gas components from a gas mixture containing at least a second gas using a swing adsorption process unit. The adsorbent contactors of the swing adsorption process unit are engineered structured adsorbent contactors having a plurality of flow channels wherein 20 volume percent or less of the open pore volume of the contactors is in the mesopore and macropore range.

A method is provided for enhancing the shear stability of a high-viscosity fluid-water flow system, such as a core annular flow system. Core annular flow of heavy crude oils in transportation pipelines and production wellbores

This invention is method of recovering gas from a gas-bearing subterranean formation in which gas is produced from an upper portion of the formation and a waste gas is injected into a lower portion of the formation to dispose of the waste gas. The waste gas is injected within a 3000 foot (914 m) radial distance from the production of the gas. The injection and production can be carried out using one well or a plurality of wells.

Acid gas disposal method

The invention is a method and system of separating a multi-component fluid in a wellbore. At least one fluid separation membrane comprising a feed side and a permeate side is incorporated in the wellbore. A flowing stream of the multi-component fluid obtained from a subterranean zone being in fluid communication with the wellbore is passed across the feed side of the membrane at a first pressure. A retentate stream depleted in at least one component compared to the multi-component fluid is withdrawn from the feed side of the membrane and passed to the earth's surface. A permeate stream at a second pressure is withdrawn from the permeate side, in which the permeate stream is enriched in at least one component compared with the multi-component fluid. The second pressure is controlled to maintain the second pressure below the first pressure.

Downhole gas separation method and system

The invention relates to a method of separating one or more components from a multi-component gas stream comprising at least one non-acid gas component and at least one acid gas component. A multi-component gas stream at a pressure above 1,200 psia (82.8 bar) and a temperature above 120&deg; F. (48.9&deg; C.) with the concentration of at least one acid gas component in the gas stream being at least 20 mole percent is passed to a membrane system that selectively separates at least one acid gas component from the multi-component gas stream as a permeate stream. The permeate stream has a pressure at least 20% of the pressure of the feed pressure.

High-pressure separation of a multi-component gas

This invention relates generally to a separation process in which a multi-component feed stream is introduced into a separation system that operates under solids forming conditions for at least one of the feed stream components. The freezable component, although typically CO.sub.2, H.sub.2 S or another acid gas, can be any component that has the potential for forming solids in the separation system. The multi-component feed stream is introduced into a separation system, at least a portion of which operates under solids forming conditions for at least one component of the feed stream. A vapor stream is withdrawn from an upper region of the separation system and compressed to a higher pressure stream. At least a portion of the compressed stream is cooled and then expanded to a lower pressure to further cool the compressed stream. At least a portion of the expanded stream is returned to the separation system, thereby providing refrigeration to the separation system.

This invention relates to a process for liquefying a gas stream rich in methane and having a pressure above about 3103 kPa (450 psia). The gas stream is expanded to a lower pressure to produce a gas phase and a liquid product having a temperature above about -112.degree. C. (-170.degree. F.) and a pressure sufficient for the liquid product to be at or below its bubble point. The gas phase and the liquid product are then phase separated in a suitable separator, and the liquid product is introduced to a storage means for storage at a temperature above about -112.degree. C. (-170.degree. F.).

Process for liquefaction of natural gas

This invention relates to a process for producing pressurized liquid rich in methane from a multi-component feed stream containing methane and a freezable component having a relative volatility less than that of methane. The multi-component feed stream is introduced into a separation system having a freezing section operating at a pressure above about 1,380 kPa (200 psia) and under solids forming conditions for the freezable component and a distillation section positioned below the freezing section. The separation system produces a vapor stream rich in methane and a liquid stream rich in the freezable component. At least a portion of the vapor stream is cooled to produce a liquefied stream rich in methane having a temperature above about -112.degree. C. (-170.degree. F.) and a pressure sufficient for the liquid product to be at or below its bubble point. Process for liquefying a natural gas stream containing at least one

This invention relates to a process for liquefying a pressurized gas stream rich in methane in which the liquefication of the gas stream occurs in a heat exchanger being cooled by a closed-loop multi-component refrigeration system to produce a methane-rich liquid product having a temperature above about -112.degree. C. (-170.degree. F.) and a pressure sufficient for the liquid product to be at or below its bubble point. The liquefied gas product is then introduced to a storage means at a temperature above about -112.degree. C. (-170.degree. F.).
