Provided herein is technology relating to medical monitoring of physiologic parameters, and particularly, but not exclusively, relating to compositions, methods and systems for the measurement of venous and arterial oxygen saturation in the blood of blood-filled anatomical structures.

Compositions and methods for measurement of oxygen saturation in blood filled structures

A vibration welding system has a pair of electromagnets coupled to a first workpiece support for effecting reciprocating movement of the first workpiece support relative to a second workpiece support, and an electrical drive system coupled to the electromagnets for successively energizing and de-energizing the electromagnets out of phase with each other to effect the reciprocating movement of the first workpiece support. The drive system includes a source of DC current; multiple controllable electronic switching devices for controllably coupling the source to, and de-coupling the source from, each of the electromagnets; current sensors coupled to the electromagnets and producing signals representing the currents supplied to the electromagnets; and control circuitry coupled to the electronic switching devices and receiving the signals produced by the current sensors for turning the switching devices on and off to control the energizing and de-energizing of the electromagnets.

Vibration welding system

A vibration welding system has a pair of electromagnets coupled to a first workpiece support for effecting reciprocating movement of the first workpiece support relative to a second workpiece support, and an electrical drive system coupled to the electromagnets for successively energizing and de-energizing the electromagnets out of phase with each other to effect the reciprocating movement of the first workpiece support. A patient vital sign monitoring device and method thereof is described. According to an embodiment of the present invention there is a portable, lightweight, and small device which verifies intubation and monitors respiratory gas in a patient. The device comprises an electronic monitoring device portion and a disposable airway adapter, the disposable airway adapter having an integral display for indicating presence or levels of respiratory gas. A method for respiratory gas monitoring according to an embodiment is provided comprising connecting a disposable airway adapter to a tube in a patient's body, the adapter having an integrally attached display portion for displaying information; releasably attaching an electronic monitoring device portion to said airway adapter; determining proper tube insertion by measuring the respiratory gas of said patient through the monitoring device, as displayed through said display portion; and releasing said monitoring device portion from said airway adapter.

Intubation verification and respiratory gas monitoring device and the method thereof

A detector that monitors the presence of halogenated agents and the presence of N2O includes a base to which a filter cannister is removably coupled. The cannister has an input for accepting exhalent from a patient or an anesthesia machine and an outlet for outputting the filtered exhalent as gases to the base. The filtered gases are routed a gas measurement or monitor cell housed in the base. The cell has a halogenated agents sensing system and a N2O sensing system. When the filter material in the filter cannister could no longer filter out the halogenated agents, the agents are passed from the filter to the measuring cell, which would detect the presence of the halogenated agents. An audible alarm sounds when halogenated agents are detected. This tells the user that it is time to replace the filter cannister.

Agents and N2O detection apparatus

A simulator adapter is provided to be used with a conventional oximeter for monitoring a patient who may be remotely located from the oximeter. In a first embodiment of the invention, the simulator adapter has a simulator digit that fits to the sensor of the oximeter. The simulator digit senses the light output from the oximeter and provides a feedback to the simulator adapter to enable the adapter to adapt the signal of the patient sent to the adapter for use by the oximeter, as if the patient is on-site and is being measured by the oximeter. In a second embodiment, in place of a simulator digit, the simulator adapter has as its output a connector which is adapted to mate with the conventional connector that is part of the conventional oximeter. This second embodiment eliminates the need for any simulator digit and sensor for the oximeter, as appropriate circuitries are provided in the simulator adapter to enable it to connect directly to the oximeter. In an environment where the signal from the patient may be affected electromagnetically, the simulator adapter may be connected to the remote oximetry unit by a fiber optic cable, so that the signal representing the physiological parameter remotely measured from the patient is directly sent either to the simulator digit of the first embodiment or the adapter connector of the second embodiment.

Oximetry simulator

A finger oximeter has fitted thereto a RF transmitter circuit so that the measured SpO , and other physical parameters from a patient, may be transmitted telecommunicatively to a monitor device remotely located from the finger oximeter. The RF transmitter circuit is mounted on a PC board that is provided in the housing of the finger oximeter, and works in cooperation with the oximetry circuit that is also mounted on a PC board in the housing of the finger oximeter. The two PC boards may be combined as one. To receive the RF signal, a RF receiver is provided to the remote monitor device, which also includes a processing circuit for processing the incoming RF signal, and a converter circuit for converting the processed digital signal into an analog signal for display at the remote monitor device. In place of a one-way RF link, the finger oximeter may be equipped with a RF transceiver circuit that is capable of transmitting as well as receiving RF signals from the remote monitor device, which likewise is fitted with a RF transceiver circuit. The finger oximeter could be activated by the patient manually, by means of a switch provided at the housing, or remotely by means of a signal provided from the remote monitor device. The finger oximeter may or may not include a display.
