An improved eyeglass retainer is disclosed, having annular closure attaching to the eyeglass frames. In an alternate embodiment, the closure comprises an elastic band that is only partially attached to the front portion of retainer, meaning that the retainer need not be tubular at the attachment point with elastic band. The invention is designed to present an aesthetically pleasing appearance and to maintain a close fit of the retainer material with the eyeglass frames, even in the presence of winds and inertial forces. In alternate embodiments, the closure in combination with protuberances located on the eyeglass temple pieces secures the retainer to the temple pieces. The protuberances may be integral with the eyeglass frames, or may be separately attached.

An improved eyeglass retainer is disclosed, having an annular closure attaching to the eyeglass frames. The annular closure draws the material of the retainer over the attachment means of the retainer, and bunches and constricts it in front of the attachment means, so as to hide said attachment means from view, and to maintain a close fit of the retainer material with the eyeglass frames, even in the presence of winds and inertial forces. In an alternate embodiment, the annular closure in combination with retaining enclosures located on the eyeglass temple pieces secures the retainer to the temple pieces.

An improved eyeglass retainer is disclosed, having annular closure means on the ends thereof that attach to the eyeglass frames. The annular closure means draws the material of the retainer over the attachment means of the retainer, and bunches and constricts it in front of the attachment means, so as to hide said attachment means from view. Further, by drawing over and constricting in front of the attachment means, the closure means maintains a close fit of the retainer material with the eyeglass frames, even in the presence of winds and inertial forces. An alternate embodiment involving a wider elastic annular closure means is also disclosed, which conforms to the narrower profile in front of the attachment means, rather than bunching material in front of it.

Backpack for bulky sports gear and footwear

A backpack for carrying bulky, heavy footwear such as inline skates, conventional roller skates, ice skates or ski boots is provided. Preferably, a backpack for carrying inline skates is provided. According to the invention, the backpack includes a left and right opposed footwear compartments. The left and right compartments are angularly joined together at the front base portion of the compartments to form an isosceles triangle there between. The joined right and left compartments define a portion of the front face of the backpack. The compartments have a sufficient height for receipt of the blade portion of a skate and/or of the top portion of a bulky boot, for example, a ski boot. In addition, the compartments have a sufficient depth to receive the blade portion of a skate. In one improvement, the footwear compartments are L-shaped and nested such that the ankle-receiving portion of one compartment is situated above the ankle receiving portion of the other compartment. In another improvement, the interior isosceles triangular shaped space is left completely or partially open at the top and/or bottom so as to accommodate long articles such as skis, a snowboard, an umbrella, etc.. In a third improvement, the footwear compartments are collapsible, and fold up into two opposed vertical side compartments. The backpack may be designed so the footwear compartments are detachably secured together, either so as to fully contact each other, or with a gap that is bridged and made secure by suitable closures, spacers, etc.

Backpack for heavy bulky footwear

A backpack for carrying bulky, heavy footwear such as inline skates, conventional roller skates, ice skates or ski boots is provided. Preferably, a backpack for carrying inline skates is provided. According to the invention, the backpack includes a left and right opposed footwear compartments. The left and right compartments are angularly joined together at the front base portion of the compartments to form an isosceles triangle therebetween. The joined right and left compartments define a portion of the front face of the backpack. The compartments have a sufficient height for receipt of the blade portion of a skate and/or of the top portion of a bulky boot, for example, a ski boot. In addition, the compartments have a sufficient depth to receive the blade portion of a skate. An improvement is presented in which the footwear compartments are L-shaped and nested such that the ankle-receiving potion of one compartment is situated above the ankle receiving portion of the other compartment.

Eyeglasses having eyeglass accessories releasably attached to the temple pieces of the eyeglasses to allow a fashion accessory such as headgear to be interchangeably interconnected to the glasses are provided. The connectors joining the headgear to the eyeglasses are substantially hidden from view during use. The fashion accessory is securely attached to the eyeglasses so that it cannot be dislodged from the eyeglasses by pulling during normal use. The fashion accessory preferably headgear typically is chosen from a variety of different types of headgear such as fashion head ties, head bands, ear warmers, hats and scarfs.

Combination eyeglasses and interchangeable fashion accessory

A backpack for carrying bulky, heavy footwear such as inline skates, conventional roller skates, ice skates or ski boots is provided. Preferably a backpack for carrying inline skates is provided. According to the invention, the backpack includes left and right opposed trapezoidal compartments. These compartments have a generally trapezoidal side face, a generally rectangular back face and a narrow width. The left and right trapezoidal compartments are angularly joined together at the front base portion of the compartments to form an isosceles triangle therebetween. The joined right and left trapezoidal compartments define a portion of the front face of the backpack. A piece of luggage material such as tight weave nylon is used to complete the front of the backpack by closing off the top of the area between the left and right trapezoidal compartments. The left and right trapezoidal compartments are rather narrow and in fact are only wide enough to receive the narrow part of a boot or skate. This prevents shifting of the footwear when carried. The compartments have a sufficient height for receipt of the blade portion of a skate and/or of the top portion of a bulky boot, for example, a ski boot. In addition, the compartments have a sufficient depth to receive the blade portion of a skate.

According to the invention a multimode traveling bag is provided which can be carried as a hand carrying bag, a back pack, shoulder bag or over the head bag. The invention provides these multimode operations while limiting the number of handles and straps. Preferably a handle and strap are provided which are neatly positioned along the body of the bag when not in use. The traveling bag desirably has a single strap affixed at each end of the strap to the left and right side of the traveling bag. The strap should be of sufficient length so that the attached strap can be placed over the head of the user when the user desires to carry the bag over his head and support the bag by the opposite shoulder.

Multimode traveling bag

According to the invention a multimode traveling bag is provided which can be carried as a hand carrying bag, a back pack, shoulder bag or over the head bag. The invention provides these multimode operations while limiting the number of handles and straps. Preferably a single handle and strap are provided which are neatly positioned along the body of the bag when not in use. The traveling bag desirably has a single strap affixed at each end of the strap to the left and right side of the traveling bag. The strap should be of sufficient length so that the attached strap can be placed over the head of the user when the user desires to carry the bag over his head and support the bag by the opposite shoulder.
