A junction box is disclosed for a solar panel. The junction box can have a base portion and cover portion nesting together. The base portion can have an extending skirt portion and be secured to the solar panel and have one or more contacts for making electrical contact with the solar panel. All other electrical components of the junction box can reside in the top portion for ease of accessibility in making cable or wire connections and/or maintaining the electrical components therein. The cover portion can have one or more terminals for connecting to the one or more contacts of the bottom portion when the cover and base portion are brought together. The terminals can be configured and mounted to the cover to provide connection with cables, to be electrically connected to each other with electrical components, and to dissipate heat produced by the electrical components.

Solar panel junction box

A shielded electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of conductive terminals having tail portions for connection to appropriate circuit traces on the printed circuit board. A shielding shell is mounted over the dielectric housing and includes a top wall, opposite side walls and a rear wall. A bottom portion of the rear wall closest to the printed circuit board is connected to a ground pad on the circuit board by a surface connection.

Board mounted shielded electrical connector

A shielded electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a front mating end, a rear terminating end and a plug-receiving cavity extending into the housing from the front mating end thereof. A conductive shield substantially surrounds the housing and has a front end, a rear end and at least one flexible arm extending from the rear end toward the front end of the shield. The flexible arm has a flared distal end for engaging a mating plug inserted into the cavity. The shield has an aperture aligned with the distal end of the flexible arm and into which the distal end can flex to increase the flexure range of the arm. A terminal is mounted on the housing and extends forwardly into the cavity for engaging an appropriate terminal of the mating plug.

Shielded electrical connector

An electrical connector system includes a connector mounted on a printed circuit board and mateable with a mating connector in a mating direction at an acute angle to the circuit board. A connector housing mounts at least two sets of first and second terminals. The connector housing is mountable on the circuit board in a mounting direction generally perpendicular to the board. The first terminals have tail portions extending in the mounting direction generally perpendicular to the circuit board. The second terminals have tail portions extending at an acute angle to the mounting direction. The printed circuit board has holes for receiving the tail portions of the first terminals and elongated slots for receiving the angled tail portions of the second terminals. The slots are sufficiently long to accommodate distal ends of the angled tail portions which extend at the acute angle to the mounting direction.

Circuit board mounted electrical connector

An electrical connector assembly is provided for mating with a complementary second connector. The assembly includes a housing mounting a terminal module for movement relative to the housing between a projecting position and a retracted position. The terminal module includes a dielectrical module body having a front mating end which projects from the housing and a rear mounting end which mounts the terminal module in the housing for movement between said positions. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the module body and include front flexible contact ends projecting from the front mating end of the module body for engaging appropriate terminal contacts of the complementary second connector. When the second connector is mated with the connector assembly, the contacts of the second connector engage the front flexible contact ends of the terminals and move the terminal module from its projecting position to its retracted position.

Electrical connector assembly

A jack assembly includes a contact switching system for receiving a coaxial plug. The assembly includes an insulative housing having a plug-receiving chamber. A fixed terminal is mounted on the housing and has a fixed switch contact portion located outside the chamber. A moveable terminal is mounted on the housing and includes a spring arm located inside the chamber in the path of insertion of the coaxial plug. A movable switch contact portion is connected to the spring arm for movement therewith into and out of engagement with the fixed switch contact portion. The movable switch contact portion is located outside the chamber. Therefore, engagement of the coaxial plug with the spring arm inside the chamber is effective to cause relative movement of the switch contact portions outside the chamber.

Jack assembly with contact switching system

An electrical connector assembly is provided for terminating a plurality of electrical wires. A non-conductive connector housing mounts a plurality of signal terminals. A wire management module includes a non-conductive body mounting a plurality of ground terminals. The body positions a plurality of signal conductors and a plurality of ground conductors of the electrical wires, the ground conductors being terminated to the ground terminals. The ground terminals interengage with the connector housing to mount the wire management module to the housing with the signal wire conductors in position for termination to the signal terminals.

A latching system is provided for an electrical connector which includes a connector housing mounting a plurality of conductive terminals in a terminal module for contacting the terminals of an appropriate mating connecting device. At least one elongated latch arm has a front latching end and a rear end. The latch arm has an enlarged integral pivot portion intermediate its opposite ends. The housing includes an elongated groove for receiving the elongated latch arm. The groove has an enlarged journal portion for receiving the pivot portion of the latch arm. The groove has an enlarged cavity portion at one side thereof. A spring independent of the latch arm is located in the enlarged cavity portion of the groove for pivoting the latch arm in a latching direction.

Latching system for electrical connectors

An electrical connector assembly is provided for mounting to a first side of a panel and through an opening in the panel. A connector housing is adapted for mounting through the opening in the panel and carries a plurality of terminals. A multi-function mounting/latch component includes at least one mounting boss for mounting the connector housing on a circuit board. The multi-function component includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a mounting post of the connector housing for mounting the connector housing at the first side of the panel and through the opening in the panel. The multi-function component includes at least one latch arm projecting through the opening to a second side of the panel. A locking plate is engageable with the latch arm at the second side of the panel to hold the connector in assembly through the panel. The latch arm includes a latching aperture to facilitate latching the connector assembly to a complementary mating connector at the second side of the panel.

Multi-function mounting/latch component for electrical connectors

An electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board and includes an elongated dielectric housing having a front mating end and a rear terminating end. A plurality of signal terminals are mounted on the housing and are spaced longitudinally thereof. Each signal terminal includes a contact portion at the mating end of the housing and a tail portion at the terminating end of the housing. A plurality of ground plates are mounted on the housing between at least some of the signal terminals. Each ground plate includes a body portion, a front portion and a tail portion. The signal terminals are disposed substantially within the longitudinal profiles of the body portions and front portions of the ground plates in a direction longitudinally of the housing, with the tail portions of the ground plates projecting rearwardly of the profiles.

Board mounted electrical connector with improved ground terminals

A mounting arrangement ( ) for connecting an electrical device ( ), typically a microphone, within a wireless telephone, is disclosed. The mounting arrangement comprises a housing ( ) having an electrical device receiving portion ( ). An enveloping portion ( ) adapted to envelop the electrical device ( ) is also provided, the enveloping portion ( ) having at least two outwardly projecting retention tabs ( ), the tabs adapted to co-operate and engage with corresponding retention portions ( ) within the receiving portion ( ). On full insertion of the enveloped electrical device within the receiving portion, the retention tabs engage with the retention portions, thereby securing the enveloping portion and enveloped electrical device within the receiving portion. Both the housing and the electrical device are provided with electrical terminals or connectors such that on securing the enveloped electrical device within the receiving portion electrical engagement between the inserted device and housing is effected.
