A hydraulic system for synchronized movement of multiple cylinders in a horizontal plane includes a bidirectional pump, a shuttle valve cross-connected between pump outlets, flow-control check valves, and control valves which combine to reduce the number of valves in the hydraulic circuit and to reduce total cost of components for the system. The shuttle valve of the hydraulic system provides fluid for resynchronizing extension and retraction of multiple cylinder assemblies without disconnection of lines, provides air removal without disconnection of lines, allows easy addition/refill of hydraulic fluid, and allows excellent control of the extendable cylinder assemblies.

Hydraulic circuit for synchronized horizontal extension of cylinders

A hydraulic system maintains squareness while extending an object via two lift cylinder assemblies. A hydraulic circuit is connected to the cylinder assemblies, and includes synchronizer with multiple isolated chambers corresponding to the cylinder assemblies, a rod extending axially through the chambers, and pistons mounted on the rod and associated with the isolated chambers. The hydraulic circuit operably connects a pump to the synchronizer and to the cylinder assemblies for controlling and providing synchronized movement of the cylinder assemblies. The hydraulic circuit includes valving for an automatic re-synchronization cycle, fill cycle, and air purge cycle. The system is effective for moving large objects in a non-binding manner, such as an extendable room on a recreational vehicle, while maintaining accurate squareness.

Hydraulic system for synchronized extension of multiple cylinders

A lift table maintains levelness while lifting a support surface via two or more lift cylinder assemblies. A hydraulic circuit is connected to the cylinder assemblies, and includes synchronizer with multiple isolated chambers corresponding to the lift cylinder assemblies, a rod extending axially through the chambers, and pistons mounted on the rod and associated with the isolated chambers. An axial passageway extends continuously through the rod and is connected to first passageways for communicating hydraulic fluid to one side of the chambers. The hydraulic circuit operably connects a pump to the axial passageway of the synchronizer and to second passageways connected to the chambers and to the cylinder assemblies for controlling and providing synchronized movement of the at least two lift cylinder assemblies. The hydraulic circuit includes valving for an automatic re-synchronization cycle, fill cycle, and air purge cycle.

An apparatus for treating cores has an endless conveyor operable with discrete intermittent movements between a plurality of preselected positions defined in a predetermined course of the endless conveyor with a preselected dwell period between each of the discrete intermittent movements, respectively. A set of drives for the endless conveyor includes a coupler associated with each drive for engagement with the endless conveyor only during the preselected dwell periods, and means for intermittently moving the drives only when the couplers are engaged with the endless conveyor, respectively.

Apparatus for treating cores

A method of operating apparatus to treat with a hardenable liquid adhesive material a plurality of cores each having a winding means with a pair of opposite end turn groupings thereon. An endless conveyor is operable with discrete intermittent movement to dispose a plurality of spindles for carrying the cores in a plurality of preselected indexed positions. In some of these indexed positions, the liquid adhesive material is dispensed onto the opposite end turns of the winding means on the cores carried by the spindles which are rotated while in the some preselected indexed positions.

The wedge device includes a housing, a pair of opposed walls therein with at least one of the opposed walls having a bifurcated wall section and with the other of the opposed walls and the bifurcated wall section defining the wedge surfaces, and an adjusting device. A hardenable liquid adhesive material is dispensed onto opposite end turn portions of coils in winding means of a loose wound core with a greater amount of the liquid adhesive material flowing therefrom generally along one of the opposite side turn portions of the coils into the slots of a generally loose lamination stack of the loose wound core in which the one opposite side turn portion of the coils are received in response to the rotation of the loose wound core in one direction and with a greater amount of the liquid adhesive material flowing generally along the other of the opposite side turn portions of the coils into the slots of the loose lamination stack in which the other opposite side turn portions of the coils are received in response to the rotation of the loose wound core in another direction opposite the one direction thereby to generally equalize the liquid adhesive material fill of the slots. From the slots of the loose lamination stack, the liquid adhesive material flows generally by capillary action into wetting relation between the interfacing laminations of the loose lamination stack generally toward a circumferential surface thereof at least during the rotation of the loose wound core. A method and apparatus for very accurately aligning a stack of loose laminations in the manufacture of a stator core for an electric motor or other dynamoelectric machine. The stack of loose laminations is supported on a pallet having a very accurately machined upper surface which is perpendicular to the desired centerline of the rotor accommodating bore. The pallet and lamination stack are moved into the alignment station and the pallet is accurately centered and the reference surface oriented perpendicular to the centerline by means of a tapered pin which acts against a tapered surface on the underneath side of the pallet. An arbor is inserted through the rotor accommodating bore of the stack, and engages a spherical head of the pin lying within the reference plane defined by the reference surface of the pallet, and the opposite end of the arbor is located by means of a second pin so that it is perpendicular to the reference plane. The mounting bolts are then threaded into the pallet, the upper pin releases the top of the arbor so that it is free to rotate about the spherical head of the lower pin, and any misalignment of the bore is measured by sensing the displacement of the upper portion of the arbor.

Method and apparatus for aligning laminations in a stator core

A preprogrammed microprocessor controlled apparatus for controlling automatic wire crimping equipment. The equipment disclosed is adapted to perform, in automatic sequence, a plurality of wire crimping steps on a dynamoelectric machine such as a motor. A wide variety of crimp height settings is selectively inserted by the equipment operator to achieve optimum crimp height for each crimp step to be performed. The crimp height setting mechanism includes an eccentric cam positioned by means of a pulse operated stepper motor with correct positioning indicated by a feed back pulse train from the cam shaft position encoder which pulse train is compared with the input information established by the equipment operator. Automatic and semi-automatic sequencing modes of operation are provided as determined by input selections established by the equipment operator. A stuffer wire control mechanism is also disclosed with provision for automatically determining an incorrect stuffer wire operation and for providing a sequence of operation enabling the equipment operator to correct the stuffer wire operation in a given crimp step.

Automatic control for wire crimping machine

Methods and apparatus for developing a plurality of coils of conductive wire for use in magnetic cores are disclosed. In one embodiment, a coil turn forming assembly having a coil form portion with a plurality of turn-gauging steps thereon is employed to develop a plurality of coils. A flyer generates turns of wire about the coil turn forming assembly and a jump mechanism locates the turn-gauging steps in the path of the wire generating the turns. The jump mechanism includes a cam surface with a plurality of axially and radially displaced stops thereon. A cam follower which is movable with the coil form portion is provided to sequentially engage the cam stops. A control arrangement actuates the jump mechanism to move the cam surface radially allowing engagement of the cam follower with different stops of the cam surface to place different turn-gauging steps of the coil form in the path of the wire generating the turns. The coil turn forming assembly is thereby moved across the winding path to sequentially locate turn-gauging steps of the coil form in position to receive turns of wire as the follower follows the cam surface. The cam surface has a generally spiral staircase configuration and is disposed on a segment of a right circular cylinder. Different stops of the cam are presented to the cam follower by incrementally rotating the cylinder segment about the cylinder axis. Upon completion of a set of coils or coil group, a ratchet which has been incrementing the cam surface is rendered inoperative to allow resetting of the cam surface to an initial position for forming or developing another set of coils.
