A card edge connector with a plurality of card-receiving areas for receiving circuit board edges and an electrical contact designed to electrically connect circuit boards with edges inserted into the card-receiving areas. The card edge connector is designed to be used with at least two circuit boards installed within an apparatus, such as a computer chassis, in a fixed position. The card edge connector is designed to be removably installed on one of the circuit boards. The card edge connector is adapted to slide, or translate, over the circuit board on which it is installed and onto the contacts of another fixed circuit board. An electrical connection is established between the fixed circuit boards, which remain stationary while the card edge connector slides to form the electrical connection between them.

Translating lockable card edge to card edge connector

An apparatus for mounting a panel to a chassis of a computer. The apparatus includes a release member movably mounted on a top surface of the chassis and a flange fixedly mounted to a base portion of the chassis. The release member is movable between a static position and a release position. A panel is pivotally attached adjacent to a base portion of the chassis. The panel is movable between a closed position and an open position. A resilient retention member is attached to the panel. The retention member is engaged with the flange when the panel is in the closed position. The release member resiliently deflects the retention member from engagement with the flange when the release member is moved from the static position toward the release position to allow the panel to be moved from the closed position to the open position. The panel can be accurately and consistently aligned and attached to the chassis of the computer system after each removal. Furthermore, the panel can be quickly and easily engaged and disengaged with minimal force without the use of tools or having to manipulate fasteners such as screws.

Apparatus for mounting a panel to a chassis of a computer

A mounting system for attaching a panel to a chassis includes a chassis having a top, a bottom and opposing sides. A guide portion is attached adjacent to the top of the chassis. A latch is movably mounted to the chassis adjacent to the guide portion. The guide portion engages the latch to limit the movement of the latch along a reference axis defined by the guide portion. A resilient member is connected between the latch and the chassis for biasing the latch to a static position. A panel is pivotally attached adjacent to the bottom of the chassis. The panel is engaged by the latch to retain the panel in a closed position. The latch is movable to a displaced position for releasing the panel to allow the panel to be moved to an open position. The panel can be accurately and consistently aligned and attached to the chassis of the computer system after each removal. Furthermore, the panel can be quickly and easily engaged and disengaged with minimal force without the use of tools or having to manipulate fasteners such as screws.

Panel mounting apparatus

An I/O shield bracket for an I/O window of a computer system chassis. The I/O shield bracket includes mechanisms for reducing electromagnetic radiation that emanates from the edge of the I/O shield bracket and the edge of the I/O window. In one embodiment, the I/O shield bracket includes an embossed portion that resides next to the edge of the I/O window. In another embodiment, the I/O shield bracket includes shield tabs that overlap an I/O window ledge surrounding the I/O window. An I/O gasket made of an electrically conductive material may be mounted to the I/O shield bracket to provide shielding between the I/O shield bracket and I/O connectors. The I/O shield bracket may include snap fingers for removably attaching the I/O shield bracket to a computer system chassis.

A panel latch system includes a chassis and a plurality of panels mounted on the chassis in a closed position. A latch body is mounted on the chassis for latched engagement with the panels. The latch body is spring loaded so as to be movable between a static position and a plurality of displaced positions for unlatching the panels. A first latch portion on the latch body is provided for releasing a first panel in response to the latch body being moved in a first direction from the static position to a first displaced position. A second latch portion on the latch body is provided for releasing a second panel in response to the latch body being moved in a second direction from the static position to a second displaced position.

Panel mounting system

An apparatus for mounting a system component in a computer chassis. The chassis has a plurality of walls and an opening is formed in one of the walls. A pair of mounting flanges is connected in the chassis adjacent the opening. A first resilient cantilever beam is provided on each flange. A bracket is mounted in the opening and includes a pair of arms. The bracket is movable between open and closed positions. A second resilient cantilever beam is mounted on each arm and is engaged with each flange. A system component is mounted in the bracket.

Apparatus for pivotally mounting a system component in a computer

A computer system including a chassis having a wall with a raised mounting portion protruding therefrom and a mounting flange attached adjacent to the wall. A peripheral device is pivotally mounted on the mounting flange. A resilient damping member is positioned adjacent the wall for being engaged by the peripheral device. The resilient damping member is compressed from a first height to a second height in response to the peripheral device being pivoted from a first position to a second position for reducing impact loadings associated with installing the peripheral device in the computer system. The resilient damping member controls the impact imposed on the peripheral device.

A computer system including a chassis having a plurality of walls forming a cavity. The computer system further includes a peripheral device positioned in the cavity. A retention clip movable between an open position and a closed position is attached to one of the walls. The retention clip includes an arm portion and a retention flange. The retention clip retains the peripheral device in a supported position relative to the chassis when in the closed position so that a fastener member can be engaged with the peripheral device.
