Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a wireless device, beamforming information from a plurality of stations. The beamforming information includes feedback signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values and beamforming feedback matrices. The method further includes determining a metric associated with a candidate group of the plurality of stations based at least in part on the received feedback SNR values and the received beamforming feedback matrices. The metric indicates a correlation between spatial streams of multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmissions intended for the stations of the candidate group.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes selecting, by a wireless device, a first subset from a first set of candidate multi-user groups of stations. The first subset is based at least in part on first-level grouping metrics associated with the first set of candidate multi-user groups. The method further includes determining second-level grouping metrics associated with a second set of candidate multi-user groups. The second set corresponds to candidate multi-user groups having a greater number of stations or channel vectors than the first set, and the second set is based at least in part on the first subset.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a first wireless device, compressed beamforming information from each of a plurality of stations, the compressed beamforming information including a feedback signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) value and compressed feedback matrix. The method also includes determining a multi-user signal-to-interference-plus noise ratio (SINR) metric for each of the plurality of stations based at least in part on the received feedback SNR values and the received compressed feedback matrices.

Using compressed beamforming information for optimizing multiple-input multiple-output operations

A method includes selecting a frame format for use in transmission of a packet via a wireless network. The transmission is associated with a particular bandwidth. The selected frame format is a first frame format if the particular bandwidth is equal to a threshold bandwidth. The selected frame format is the first frame format or a second frame format if the particular bandwidth is greater than the threshold bandwidth. The second frame format includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes a short training field (STF), a long training field, and a signal A field, and the second portion includes a data portion including a second STF, one or more signal B fields, and a data field. The method further includes generating the packet in accordance with the selected frame format and one or more timing parameters and sending the packet.

Systems and methods of controlling characteristics of messages in sub-1 GHz networks (e.g., IEEE 802.11ah networks) are disclosed. One or more data structures indicating tone scaling parameters may be stored at or accessible to transmitters and receivers. The data structures may be organized based on a frame format, a wireless network bandwidth, and/or the number of spatial streams in use at the wireless network. Information stored in the data structures may be used in generation and processing of messages communicated via the sub-1 GHz network.

The code is based on an addressee of the data unit. The method further includes transmitting, at a transmitter, the data unit over a wireless channel. In another aspect, a method of processing a data unit includes receiving, at a receiver, a data unit. The data unit includes one or more STF sequences. The method further includes determining whether the data unit comprises one or more differentially encoded symbols. The method further includes receiving one or more long training field (LTF) sequences when the data unit does not comprise one or more differentially encoded symbols.

Systems and methods for managing on-time of wireless receivers

Methods and devices for communicating in a communication system are described herein. One aspect provides a method of communicating over one or more space-time streams. The method includes transmitting a first stream with a bandwidth of 2 MHz or less. The method further includes transmitting, when there are at least two streams, a second stream with a cyclic shift delay relative to the first stream equal to half a period. The method further includes transmitting, when there are at least three streams, a third stream with a cyclic shift delay relative to one of the first and second stream equal to a quarter of the period. The method further includes transmitting, when there are at least four streams, a fourth stream with a cyclic shift delay relative to the other of the first and second stream equal to a quarter of the period.

Systems and methods for communication over a plurality of frequencies and streams

A system is provided for transmitting information through a speech codec (in-band) such as found in a wireless communication network. A modulator transforms the data into a spectrally noise-like signal based on the mapping of a shaped pulse to predetermined positions within a modulation frame, and the signal is efficiently encoded by a speech codec. A synchronization sequence provides modulation frame timing at the receiver and is detected based on analysis of a correlation peak pattern. A request/response protocol provides reliable transfer of data using message redundancy, retransmission, and/or robust modulation modes dependent on the communication channel conditions.

Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communication is provided. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a wireless signal comprising a packet over a bandwidth. The packet includes a preamble portion comprising a signaling (SIG) field. A first portion of the SIG field is received over a first bandwidth within the bandwidth. A second portion of the SIG field is received after the first portion, the second portion received over a second bandwidth within the bandwidth. The first bandwidth is different than the second bandwidth, The second portion is replicated at least once within the bandwidth. The apparatus further includes a processor configured to evaluate the wireless signal including at least one of the first or second portions of the SIG field.

Systems and methods for wireless communication in sub gigahertz bands

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which VoIP traffic is scheduled in a way that focuses on controlling user latencies, by reshaping packet latency profiles of individual users to more efficiently utilize power/code resources. A feedback mechanism may utilize certain latency controllers to adjust a queuing delay and an over-the-air transmit time to meet latency targets. That is, system resources may be allocated in a wireless network by adjusting a latency target for a packet responsive to a user's packet latency history.

One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of communicating over one or more space-time streams. The method includes transmitting a precoded portion of a first stream with a bandwidth of 1 MHz or less.
