Embodiments are directed to systems and techniques to provide smart access control devices with legacy access control systems.

Smart access control device

Locking mechanisms and methods of operating the locking mechanisms are disclosed. In one example, a locking mechanism may include a main hub assembly coupleable with a deadbolt, a clutch assembly coupled to the main hub assembly, and an actuator assembly coupled to the clutch assembly. The actuator assembly may include an actuator operable to bias a carriage along a first direction to bring the clutch assembly and the main hub assembly closer to one another along a second direction, wherein the second direction is perpendicular to the first direction. The locking mechanism may further include a thumbturn assembly coupled to the clutch assembly, the thumbturn assembly comprising a thumbturn positionable on an exterior side of a door.

Locking mechanism

A smart module configured to control electronic locking devices may include a plurality of wireless interfaces configured to operate in accordance with at least one of a plurality of wireless protocols. The smart module may include a communications interface having a plurality of pins to couple to an electronic locking device. The smart module may include a memory coupled with the plurality of wireless interfaces, processing circuitry, the communications interface, and a touch display. The memory may include instructions, that when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to receive, via the touch display, a request to cause an action on the electronic locking device, and transmit a command to the electronic locking device via the communications interface to cause the action on the electronic locking device.
