Apparatus for optical imaging of Cerenkov luminescence from an object subsequent to the object receiving a dose of a radiopharmaceutical, the apparatus comprising: a light tight enclosure within which the object can be received at a sample location; an imaging means; a means to mitigate direct particle impingement between the sample location and the imaging means; and one or more optical elements for transmitting Cerenkov photons from within the light tight enclosure to the imaging means.

Specimen chamber for optical imaging of radiopharmaceuticals

The present invention provides a position sensor which is suitable for use in a piston and cylinder assembly. The position sensor includes a movable field modifying member which is operable to vary the inductance of a sensor winding, whereby the position of the field modifying member relative to the sensor winding can be determined by monitoring the inductance of the sensor winding. The position sensor also includes a compensation winding which is arranged to have a common coupling with the field modifying member whereby a signal output from the compensation winding can be used to compensate for variations in the signal level output by the sensor winding caused by, for example, temperature variations of the system.

Position sensor

An optical instrument is provided for forming a viewable image of an object. The optical instrument includes an objective lens for forming the viewable image at an image plane, an eyepiece through which the user can view the viewable image, an eye sensor for sensing the direction of gaze of a user, and means for controlling a function of the optical instrument depending on the gaze direction. The eye sensor includes a light source for outputting light through the eyepiece towards the user's eye, a lens for causing the light from the source to be collimated when it exits the eyepiece, an imaging transducer for imaging the user's eye through the eyepiece and for generating an electrical image signal, and processing means for processing the image signal to determine the location of the user's pupil center and the location of a reflection of the light source to determine the gaze direction information.

Eye tracking system

A signalling system includes first and second signalling devices. The first signalling device including a retro-reflector modulator, having a lens, a modulator and a reflector, and being operable to receive, modulate and reflect the modulated signal back to the second signalling device. The second signalling device including a signal generator, a receiver for receiving the modulated signal from the first signalling device and a processor for retrieving modulation data from the received modulated signal. The lens of the first signalling device includes a telecentric lens.

Signalling system

A linear position sensor is provided which employs phase quadrature sensor windings, an excitation winding and a resonator. When an excitation current is applied to the excitation winding, it causes the resonator to resonate which in turn induces signals in the sensor windings. The sensor windings are spatially arranged so that the electromagnetic coupling between them and the resonator varies with the position of the resonator. The excitation windings, phase quadrature windings and resonant circuit are arranged so that the magnetic fields involved in the operation of the position sensor are substantially parallel to each other and the direction of movement of the resonator. Consequently, the effect of rotation of the resonator or lateral movement of it relative to the excitation and phase quadrature windings is alleviated.
