A battery module includes a plurality of flat cells and a plurality of nipping plates. Each of the flat cells has a cell main body and at least one electrode tab. The cell main body includes a power storage element sealed in a package member. The electrode tab is electrically connected to the power generating member and protruding outwardly from the cell main body. The flat cells are stacked on one another such that the electrode tabs are electrically connected in a stacking direction. Adjacent ones of the nipping plates in the stacking direction nip the electrode tab and a portion of the cell main body of a corresponding one of the flat cells from both opposite side surfaces of the corresponding one of the flat cells along the stacking direction.

Battery module

A battery structure for an electric vehicle includes a plurality of columnar component cells and a substantially square battery casing for accommodating the component cell. The battery casing includes a casing body consisting of an upper casing, a lower casing and an intermediate casing interposed between the upper casing and the lower casing, and a pair of side covers fitted to both ends of the casing body. In the battery casing, a plurality of rib walls are formed to support the component cells and to divide an interior of the battery casing into a plurality of compartments in the longitudinal direction of the battery casing. Further, the battery casing has air holes formed in top and bottom walls of the battery casing for circulating cooling air in the compartments vertically. In operation, since the cooling air flows vertically through the upper and lower air holes in the respective compartments defined by the rib walls, it is possible to extend the cooling air over the whole lengths of the component cells, so that the cooling for the component cells can be effected to enhance the cooling capability of the whole batteries.

Battery structure for electric vehicle

A nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery is formed by winding a thin-film positive electrode, a thin-film negative electrode, and a thin-film separator. A cap is arranged at the distal end portion of a pole bored through the cap and interposed between a nut and a disk-like portion of the pole through a ceramic washer being in contact with the nut and a ceramic patch being in contact with the disk-like portion. The ceramic washer and the ceramic patch consist of alumina or zirconia. For a bolt for interposing a bus bar or a conductive line to fix the bus bar or the conductive line, a female screw portion formed in the pole is arranged in a space of a spindle.

Secondary battery

A nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery has a seal whose transparency and permeability with respect to external gas or moisture can be suppressed to a low level and which has high reliability. The nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery has an electrolytic solution injection port (32) for injecting a nonaqueous electrolytic solution and an expansion plug (4) for air-tightly sealing the electrolytic solution injection port. A metal seal (2) is arranged between the electrolytic solution injection port (32) and the expansion plug (4). The metal seal (2) is of a metal containing aluminum as a main component, or a stainless steel, and the expansion plug (4) is of stainless steel.

Nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery

In a DOHC engine, a sprocket chamber is formed at the cylinder head at one end thereof, and formed with a lateral opening. A timing chain drivingly interconnects a crankshaft and an idler gear, whereas a camshaft driving chain drivingly interconnects the idler gear and a pair of cam sprockets. A first tensioner is mounted to a cylinder block for adjusting the tension of the timing chain, whereas a second tensioner is mounted to the sprocket chamber for adjusting the tension of the camshaft driving chain. There are provided means for defining an access to the first tensioner.

Camshaft driving arrangement for double overhead camshaft engine

A V-type engine includes first and second camshafts rotatably mounted to cylinder heads, respectively. A first chain drivingly interconnects a crankshaft and the first camshaft, whereas a second chain drivingly interconnects the crankshaft and the second camshaft. First and second tensioners provide the tensions to the first and second chains, respectively. For concealing the first and second chains, the engine has a cover formed with two openings positioned in accordance with the first and second tensioners.

Chain cover for V-type engine

An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder block, and a plurality of main bearing caps secured to the cylinder block at a predetermined portion. A flange integral with the cylinder block has first and second end walls extending from the cylinder block and spaced from each other, and a peripheral wall which interconnects the first and second end walls. The first, second and peripheral walls cooperate with the predetermined portion of the cylinder block to define a chamber. The peripheral wall is formed with an opening communicating with the chamber. The opening and the chamber serve as an access to the predetermined portion. The opening is closed by a plug.

Cylinder block

A V-type cylinder block of internal combustion engine is disclosed, which provides two angularly disposed cylinder banks each having a cylinder row of cylinders. A plurality of ribs rise generally from head bolt hole portions defined between two cylinders adjacent each other, are provided between two cylinder rows for interconnecting wall portions of the cylinder rows and intersect at the middle of the cylinder rows for forming intersecting points. At the intersecting points of the plurality of ribs are disposed fixing portions of knocking sensors for detecting an engine knocking.
