A method for making a cathode ray tube involves the step of positioning a non-reflective transparent plate in front of a face plate of a tube body with a given space therebetween; a step of filling the space with a resin composition and a step of heating the resin composition filled in the space to harden the composition to bond the tube body and the non-reflective transparent plate to each other. The resin composition is an unsaturated polyester resin composition which comprises an unsaturated polyester having a molecular weight per one unsaturated group of 1000 to 8000 and (1) a polymerizable monomer, a low-temperature hardener and a high-temperature hardener or (2) styrene and/or a derivative thereof and an unsaturated compound having a refractive index of 1.5 or less. This composition can be molded in a short time and forms no strain on hardening and serves as an adhesive for production of the cathode ray tube.

A resin composition comprising a copolymer (A) having carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds in its side chains, particularly that obtained by reacting a copolymer of alkyl (meth)arylate (0-50 mole %), hydroxy (meth)acrylate (10-50 mole %) and ethylenic unsaturated monomer (0 to 90 mole %) with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or an anhydride thereof, and a monomer (B) copolymerizable with (A) is suitable for producing a laminate for electrical use.

Resin composition and electrical laminate obtained therefrom

A flame retardant electrical laminate prepared by impregnating a base material with a halogen-containing unsaturated polyester resin which is prepared by dissolving a halogen-containing unsaturated polyester into a polymerizable monomer; and then curing the halogen-containing unsaturated polyester resin; wherein the halogen-containing unsaturated polyester has a molecular weight per 1 mole of unsaturated group of 350 to 1,000, and the cured halogen-containing unsaturated polyester resin has a glass transition temperature of 30.degree. to 90.degree. C. Such electrical laminates not only have excellent flame redardancy but also excellent puching quality at wide temperature range including room temperature.

A resin composition obtained by adding maleic anhydride to an unsaturated polyester resin composition comprising (I) an unsaturated polyester, (II) a styrene monomer, and (III) at least one polymerizable unsaturated compound, in limited amounts is low in viscosity, excellent in transparency and adhesiveness, able to prevent the generation of surface defects, and thus suitable for treating cathode-ray tubes.

Unsaturated polyester resin composition for cathode ray tube and its use

Unsaturated polyester resin compositions that have a low shrinking property, and at the same time, an enough strength are provided. The compositions comprises (1) 30-70 parts by weight of an unsaturated polyester obtained by reacting terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid and one or more of unsaturated acids selected from the group consisting of maleic anhydride, maleic acid and fumaric acid, with a glycol, and having the unsaturation degree of 1.5-5.0 and the acid value of 18-40, (2) 70-30 parts by weight of .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and (3) 5-30 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin having the number average molecular weight of 5,000-500,000.

Low shrinkage unsaturated polyester resin compositions

A molding resin composition comprising (a) 40 to 70 parts by weight of an unsaturated polyester, (b) 60 to 20 parts by weight of a dialkyl ester of alkenyl succinic acid, and (c) 0 to 30 parts by weight of a polymerizable monomer other than the component (b) can produce molded articles excellent in mechanical properties, e.g. toughness and coating properties.
