A thermoplastic polyurethane having a glass transition temperature of the soft phase of not more than −25° C. measured using DMA and a heating rate of 2K/min at 1 Hz under torsion based on DIN EN ISO 6721: 2016; maximum G″ can be obtained by a process at least including the reaction of a polyol composition including a polypropylene glycol, wherein the proportion of the secondary terminal OH groups based on the total number of terminal OH groups of the polypropylene glycol is in the range of more than 90%, with a polyisocyanate to obtain a polyol composition including a prepolymer and the reaction of the polyol composition including the prepolymer with a polyisocyanate composition including at least one polyisocyanate and at least one chain extender having a molecular weight <500 g/mol. The thermoplastic polyurethane may be used for producing injection molded products, extruded products, films, profiles and shaped articles.

A process for producing foamed thermoplastic polyurethane particles comprises the steps of a) melting a thermoplastic polyurethane in a first extruder (E), b) injecting a gaseous blowing agent in a second extruder (E), c) impregnating the gaseous blowing agent homogeneously into the thermoplastic polyurethane melt in a third extruder (E), d) extruding the impregnated thermoplastic polyurethane melt through a die plate and granulating the melt in an underwater granulation device under temperature and pressure conditions to form foamed thermoplastic polyurethane particles.

Also disclosed is the process for preparing said prepolymer composition and crosslinked thermoplastic polyurethane. Both of the isocyanate prepolymer composition and crosslinked thermoplastic polyurethane show improved properties.

This invention is directed to a thermoplastic polyurethanes composition comprising polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethane and 1,2-cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid ester and preparation processes thereof.
